Taxonomy: For all marine species, Project Gastropods uses the taxonomy in the online database WoRMS. When starting a new article, do not use sources of taxonomic information that predate the 2017 revision for all gastropod groups ("Revised Classification, Nomenclator and Typification of Gastropod and Monoplacophoran Families" by Philippe Bouchet & Jean-Pierre Rocroi, Bernhard Hausdorf, Andrzej Kaim, Yasunori Kano, Alexander Nützel, Pavel Parkhaev, Michael Schrödl and Ellen E. Strong in Malacologia, 2017, 61(1–2): 1–526.) (can be dowloaded at Researchgate.net), substituting the previous classification of 2005 Taxonomy of the Gastropoda (Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005). Hello, I wanted to ask, if "pit" is the same as "pore"? If so, and it seems, that so, then we can add the term "caudal mucous pore" into the fist sentence also. --- I have added it at least to the portal. --Snek01 (talk) 14:16, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Michal. "Pit" has very much the meaning of a passive container. "Pore" on the other hand (to me) tends to suggest that mucus is secreted there, although the word "pore" does not suggest that as strongly as the word "gland" which is quite unambiguous. It looks like caudal mucous pit, but the species (and even family) is unidentified. Maybe from Helicarionidae. --Snek01 (talk) 13:30, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
