....oldest known bog body in the world? At least the Koelbjerg Woman dates back to 8000 BC, the Bleivik Man to 6110-5890 BC, some of the Windover Bog Bodies to 5340-5230 BC, the Stoneyisland Man to 3350-3220 BC, the Luttra Woman (Hallonflickan) to 3105-2935 BC, The Porsemose Man 2850-2670 BC and many other are much older than Cashel Man. --Bullenwächter (talk) 16:53, 5 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the correction. I was just repeating what the source said with-out checking or thinking about it. Please go to the List of bog bodies and correct the material on Cashel Man there as well.Kdammers (talk) 03:47, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK - I'll do it. --Bullenwächter (talk) 11:54, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I found the right statement in Eamonn (2012). "The bog body from Cashel Bog, Co. Laois". Ossory, Laois and Leinster 5. It is the oldest fleshed bog body of europe. The older bodies are more or les sekelettonised. --Bullenwächter (talk) 09:11, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sensationalist claims?[edit]

Is it really justified to add as evidence the speculative claims of newspapers and TV documentaries? It seems rather absurd to deduce "ritual sacrifice" from the presence of some wooden poles, or to ascribe the same social and cultural practices (the king sacrifice idea) to a body from 2000 BC and one from the 4th century BC. I feel like that's not well-supported evidence, and should at least be rephrased along lines like 'some have speculated that...'
