BLP[edit]

Just a reminder to everyone that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an entertainment tabloid, and is governed by policies around verifiability in reliable sourcesespecially in biographies of living people. For our purposes here, we only care about material which is directly relevant to Ms. Jarvis' notability as an encyclopedia topic, which is her journalism career — if you cannot properly source the accuracy and notability of a piece of trashy gossip about her personal life, then it does not belong in this article under any circumstances. Accordingly, all unsourced claims about her personal life on both the article and this talk page have been not just removed, but deleted from the visible edit history. Publishing titillating rumours about people's private lives is not what Wikipedia is for. Bearcat (talk) 02:43, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well done - I've been working on cleaning this up as well, the more BLP-minded eyes on it the better! --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 15:08, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Editing Permissions for Carolyn Jarvis Biography[edit]

My name is Samantha and I am the publicity coordinator for Global News. Carolyn Jarvis' page has been made semi-private due to slanderous material being posted. As only few can update this page, it is out of date and we (publicity team) would like to have access to update her page with new information. If you could please let me know next steps, that would be great!

Thank you, 66.199.33.7 (talk) 15:14, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

For the time being, it would be best, if at all possible, for you to post the requested improvements here on the talk page, and then a user who is able to edit the article can review how best to integrate it properly into the article. This is both because of the risk of the past nonsense starting up again, and because of our conflict of interest rules, which strongly recommend against the subject's own publicity staff making too many direct edits to the article. Bearcat (talk) 16:08, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for your reply. I will post the content shortly and make the request. 66.199.33.7 (talk) 14:14, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Update - Carolyn Jarvis Wikipedia[edit]

Moved draft to: Talk:Carolyn Jarvis/Draft to simplify editing. Jim1138 (talk) 22:38, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello There,

I would like to make a request to have someone update the Carolyn Jarvis Wikipedia page as mentioned in the above comments. I have created a sample page that includes all updated content. Ultimately, we would like this page to have the same set-up as LeVar_Burton including the below information. I can also provide you with all of the materials needed to do so. If you could please update the page in the suggested format, that would be great! I have also created a mock-up version to better show the format. If you could please provide me with an email address, I can send it over.

Thank you very much for your time and patience, Sam

Carolyn Jarvis (born August 20, 1979) is the Chief Correspondent of Global News’ 16x9.

Hi Sam. Thanks for giving us the raw content and using the request edit system. I gave it a rough trim for promotional content and put it into some resemblance of proper formatting. It won't win any awards as one of our best articles, but I think it's better than the current article and better than what we would have without the request edit system. Someone who is more thorough and has higher standards may give you more feedback, so I will leave the request edit open. Corporate Minion 16:57, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I see Sam and Jim both made some edits and it looks pretty good. I'll move it into article-space. Corporate 00:30, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Minor Edit Request - Carolyn Jarvis[edit]

Hello There,

As the page is locked, can I please request that the 'b' be removed from the lead paragraph on Carolyn's page? - "Carolyn Jarvis (b 20 July 1979) is the chief correspondent for the...."

Thank you! Samanthajayne77 (talk) 13:40, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Also, could we please make the following content into present tense as she is still alive and still enjoys these things? --> Jarvis enjoyed rock climbing, hiking, cooking and music. Her mother was a conductor and she grew up with an appreciation for classical music. Jarvis can play the piano, trumpet, and trombone. Jarvis has been a part of many choral ensembles, including Edmonton’s Pro Coro.[5]

For the record, we're not generally interested in personal details of our article subjects' private lives, such as their personal hobbies or the occupations of their parents (or the kind of stuff that led to this article initially getting locked down, which I won't get into except to say that it was spectatularly inappropriate.) We prefer to restrict ourselves specifically to what's genuinely encyclopedic about her, which is her public career as a journalist, and to let her keep her personal life as private as possible. Notoriety on the Lofters[edit]

I think it is worth stating in the article that (Redacted) It was the main focus of the storyline. More importantly, it speaks to her judgment, and values. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:C521:24A0:E5E7:608A:9A3A:1E58 (talk) 01:35, 8 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

And the reliable source that you can provide to properly verify the accuracy of this information would be...? Bearcat (talk) 13:28, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Update career info[edit]

Career section and side panel should be updated. 16x9 has been cancelled and Jarvis is now 'chief investigative correspondent for a new “network investigations unit to work with local teams across all platforms, including radio.”' Info here and here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:569:7226:A00:CDAF:3010:37E8:34B8 (talk) 15:30, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Update career info[edit]

Please change career section and side panel from Chief Correspondent 16x9 to Chief Investigate Correspondent for Global News. 16x9 has been cancelled. Rbrayshaw (talk) 18:46, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Aaron Liu (talk) 14:54, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the link reliable source that support the change of Carolyn's title:

Also, is there a way we can either take out the portion of Carolyn Jarvis' "Osama" / "Obama" line or move it to the body of the bio so it's not what her bio ends on? The link still works but the video in the link no longer exists (so people can't watch it anyways with the link provided). Carolyn has won multiple awards since for outstanding journalism and having this at the end of her bio is tarnishing.
Thank you for your time! Rbrayshaw (talk) 17:19, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there - any chance you can help me with the updates now that the reliable source has been given? Thank you! Rbrayshaw (talk) 14:02, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
{{Admin Help}} Can we update the portion of Carolyn Jarvis "Osama" / "Obama" the reference made to this point no longer has the video for people to view on the webpage. Perhaps we can move this career info if still needed into the body of the text (instead of the ending) or maybe remove it all together as having this at the end of Carolyn's career info is quite tarnishing. I can also send an updated career info bio that is updated with references if you could please send me an email address. Thank you!
