Proposed name change to carbon emissions[edit]

I want to propose renaming the article from carbon respiration to carbon emissions. The article specifies releases outside the definition of respiration: "(burning of) fossil fuels, ... wood burning, and volcanic eruptions." I could find no references that use the term carbon respiration in this way. We need this article but a different term. Carbon emissions currently redirects 200+ links to greenhouse gas. the current carbon respiration article would be a more accurate landing place for carbon emissions links. I considered renaming this to carbon releases and located 20 WP articles using the term "carbon release", most of which use that term in a way that could be linked to this article, but clearly carbon emissions is the more link worthy of those two alternatives. -- Paleorthid (talk) 08:03, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

consistency with global carbon cycle[edit]

I propose carbon respiration/emission/release be written to include other forms of carbon emission in addition to carbon dioxide: releases of carbon monoxide along with VOCs: methane and the non-methane non-methane VOCs. This is not my field of expertise. I don't have a cited reference to inform this decision. Consistent with carbon accounting, WP articles vary in treatment of whether carbon is assumed to be just the CO2, or whether it includes methane and converts to either equivalent CO2 per Kyoto protocol vs more traditional science derived mass balance of total C. Maybe this article will need to address multiple POVs. I am looking for tertiary sources, and counsel from other editors. -- 2nd edit -- Paleorthid (talk) 18:09, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
