... January 2016 ...[edit]

There should be a link to the Temple of Juno Moneta in several places.82.176.195.232 (talk) 15:17, 20 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

... October 2007‎ ...[edit]

Shouldn’t the Latin name be Mons Capitolinus?
Athene noctua 00:50, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know. Both Mons Capitolinus and Capitolinus Mons get a decent number of Google entries.SoothingR 09:15, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Considering that the word "mons" means mountain, or mount, I would say that it would be incorrect to use it since we're talking about a hill.LuxAeterna753 (talk) 22:25, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it should be. Check in Lewis and Short or other standard reference works. I just changed it. -Eponymous-Archon (talk) 23:33, 12 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I replaced this image. Comparison with the image now in the article shows why: the head of Marculus Aurelius is almost lost in the shadow behind. The new img, though a bit light, provides a better documentation. --Wetman 02:16, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think this article lacks links to at least Brennus, of the "vae victis" fame. Also a mention to its sacred gooses, who were supposed to raise alarm and boot the Gauls out when they tried to conquer it by night. See the French article for instance (anonymous). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.229.60.246 (talkcontribs)

... October 2010[edit]

Bum links in the references section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.56.6.225 (talk) 17:59, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Campidoglio is an alternative name in italian, not a dialectal form. see the title of the italian version...

What authority is there to say that Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. was named for Capitoline Hill, rather than just being a descriptive term for the hill where the Capitol stood?Hickory19 (talk) 16:46, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted a redundant section about Palazzo dei Conservatori (one that was shorter, without a header, and had typos), and gave another Palazzo the proper (sub)header. 79.17.74.190 (talk) 20:32, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In the box: or → mount cap[edit]

The Capitoline Hill, one of the seven hills of Rome

  • In Latin Capitolinus moms /
  • in ... / Italian il Campidoglio or mount cap

Does anybody really think, mount cap is Italian? It is not even English for this hill!

Latin: Collis Capitōlīnus or MONS capitolinus, not moms --129.69.140.138 (talk) 13:01, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Roman Senate[edit]

Wasn't the ancient Roman Senate located on the Capitoline Hill? 203.217.148.176 (talk) 07:49, 18 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Emperor Charles V Campidoglio Visit[edit]

The article states that the visit of Emperor Charles V was expected in 1538, the same year the statue of Marcus Aurelius was moved to the piazza. In James Ackerman's book, The Architecture of Michelangelo (page 152) the author states that Charles V visited the Capitoline Hill (after the sack of Rome in 1527) in 1536 avoiding the hill during his march due to poor access, which was one of the motivations for Pope Paul III to acquire the statue of Marcus Aurelius in 1537. Did Charles V visit Rome twice then? One time in 1536 and then two years later? LuxAeterna753 (talk) 17:41, 26 October 2016 (UTC) [1][reply]
