Regarding citations in the article

There are many references/citations missing for the various subsections. These include the subsections of Definition, Biostratigraphy and Events. Every fact should have a reference. Furthermore even the introductory paragraph lacks citations. For example the line that the Capitanian extinction event could be connected to the End Permian extinction event does not have a citation. In the reference section of the article some references are not complete. They are missing article names and/or journal names and source. Deepikha101 (talk) 02:46, 7 February 2016 (UTC)

In the definitions part of stratigraphy the article states that the fossils of conodont species Jinogondolella postserrata marks the start of the Capitanian age and the conodont species Clarkina postbitteri postbitteri first appears is where the Capitianian ends. However there is no citations for any articles that conducted the study or where those fossil were found. In the references there is a part on literature but those literature were not linked to any part of the article and thus there is no way to determine which fact is cited from the books. Under the events part of this page, the first line is given by a citation at the end which directly goes to the link, however there's no citations provided to the second line. If the whole information comes from the same source then the citation should be added to the end. If not, then another citation is needed for the next paragraph. There is lack of information regarding to the references, for example the 8th citation, only " Isozaki et al. (2007)" has been given which is in its in-text citation format. This reference is in an improper format. Lilyyhlu (talk) 02:11, 6 April 2016 (UTC)

Overstated and Understated Material

In the article ‘End Capitanian Extinction Event’ links to the ‘Emeishan Traps’. This is incorrect because there are various other theories, and the Emeishan Traps is not the only extinction theory. The role of Emeishan Traps is overstated. And the article only mentions about China and the US and therefore does not have a global view. The impact of the extinction in the rest of the world is understated. This article could be linked to ‘Emeishan Traps’ page as one of the many theories and not as a sole theory. The link should be redirected to a new more general page named ‘Theories of Capitanian Extinction’. This page needs to be created or redirected to an already existing page. Article currently states that a 'significant mass extinction event' or the End-Capitanian occured at the end of this period. But rather two or more extinctions are known to have occurred within the Capitanian. This includes an initial major extinction, a recovery period and followed by other smaller extinctions prior to and linked with the End-Permian mass extinction. In the introduction it is said that the End-Capitanian extinction even may be related to the Permian-Triassic extinction event, however there is no citation to support this theory and new evidence have shown that those two extinction events are most likely not related. In the stratigraphy area the information is repetitive and not precise it have to much information just about the naming. I feel like the wiki articles should be a general summary. In the biostratigraphy only the names have been given and nothing more this is understated and should be expended on. Si Wen Cheng (talk) 20:28, 4 April 2016 (UTC)

Ideas to expand the article

After reading some articles on the Capitanian and comparing to other articles on Wikipedia, I have found that the various subsections, including but not limited to Events, Biodiversity and Stratigraphy could be more detailed. A lot of information is missing from these sections. The Events section for example is very brief, it has only two lines. The sections can also be better explained. Furthermore the Events section should talk about anoxia and acidification. Some subsections are altogether missing such as: Paleontology, plants and animals of the period, species that survived the extinction or became extinct, the animals most affected, and marine and terrestrial animals. An evidence section is also needed for how we have proof of the extinction events. More pictures, graphs and detailed time line during this stage can be included. Many area of the article are too specific for example the events only talked about the Emeishan Traps but there are other events. The events section should have a general overview on all the events and then go in the specifics of each events. Another section should be added about controversy of how the End-Capitanian extinction event could be considered to be an mass extinction. Evidence from both side should be given to remain neutral. The last section of stratigraphy-biodiversity, the whole paragraph is kind of vague and ambiguous, there's only few sentences to summarize this category which does not have enough evidence to introduce the biodiversity.
