Name[edit]

Is captain Hatteras the polar explorer from some Jules Verne novel named after the place, or vice versa? 89.102.137.191 10:38, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Beach Closures citation[edit]

The link provided as citation 3 (http://www.outerbanks.org/visitor_services/press_room/press_releases/2008_Dare_County_Tourism_Figures.pdf) does not contain any figures for tourism changes (or lack thereof) due to the beach closures. The pdf describes state spending on tourism. Unless someone has a better link, I am going to delete it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Obxmaybe (talkcontribs) 18:21, 28 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted today. Thanks Obxmaybe (talk) 16:19, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Federally protected species[edit]

"...many of which are also federally protected species"

The citation refers only to American Oystercatchers, which are not a federally protected species. Please provide a better reference or I will delete that part of the sentence. Thanks Obxmaybe (talk) 16:02, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

INACCURACIES[edit]

This page is, presently, inaccurate. Please call Cape Hatteras National Park Service for accurate information about Cape Hatteras. (67.238.253.102 (talk) 02:09, 12 May 2012 (UTC))[reply]

We don't do interviews...we rely on reliable sources for our information...these sources can come from published journals, newspapers, books and websites, but the last of these is generally not reliable unless it is vetted, such as from a public domain source like the National Park Service.--MONGO 03:07, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The current information regarding beach closures cited is accurate. Not sure why the box continues to be there. NCN8 (talk) 00:03, 16 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Beach conservation[edit]

The section on Beach conservation mainly consists of citations from Defenders of Wildlife. If this did not get significant coverage in reliable sources, the section should be deleted. Fettlemap (talk) 04:02, 6 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
