I would like to recommend changing the First sentance to read:

Camponotus floridanus, of the genus Camponotus. -current footnote 2- is one of the several species -footnote linking to http://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/urban/ants/fl_carpenter_ants.htm- known as the Florida carpenter ant.-current footnote 2-
