Historical site[edit]

This rancho house and site historically signifies the end of the Californios defense of their land, under Mexican rule, and the submitting to American control, by signing the treaty. Their should be statues erected for; Jose Maria Flores, Andres Pico and Jose Antonio Carrillo, for their leadership and courage they displayed during the defense of their land.

Defending Southern California's Pueblo de Los Angeles, against the superiorly manned and armed United States Calvary under General Kearney, the United States Marines Corps under Mervine and Gillespie, the United States Navy under Stockton, and the American Immigrant volunteers under Freemont, their Californio Militia displayed bravery and courage noteworthy of historical recognition, 161 years later, on this site.
