Location

Please note that, despite the name, the RTLS is not in Ravenna. In fact, the site does not occupy any part of either the City of Ravenna or Ravenna Township, and no entrance to the facility directly serves Ravenna. This is key: Presently, the only active entrance to the facility is in Braceville Township (which isn't even in Portage County, for whatever that's worth). Another entrance, that depicted by the photograph in the infobox, is in Windham and is currently inactive, although discussions are underway to reactivate that entrance for at least utility access. Two other entrances to the facility are located in Paris Township: One, at the northern terminus of State Route 225, is clearly inactive. The other, to the west along State Route 5, I believe is also inactive. None of these entrances are oriented toward Ravenna.

It's a bit of a mystery why the RTLS is even named for Ravenna: I'm not convinced that mail is delivered through Ravenna to the site anymore, as it's presently staffed solely by military personnel. Perhaps mail was once delivered to the Paris Twp. gates via Ravenna, but mail to the Braceville gate would probably have come through Newton Falls, and the barracks for contractors and personnel were located in Windham (with mail delivery through that post office to their residences). Ravenna is also not the closest municipality: That would be Windham, with Newton Falls the next closest. But regardless, information about this facility doesn't belong to the article at Ravenna, Ohio. There are other articles which would be well-enhanced with that info. Agreed. The townships that lost much of their land to the site should definitely have it mentioned as well as the village of Windham (I believe it is mentioned) since the site played a pivotal role in the development of Windham in the 1940s and 50s. As for why it is named after Ravenna, it is likely because Ravenna is the closest city of importance. Ravenna in the 1940's was about the same size as it is today, so was relatively important (more so than today) and was already known for being the county seat of Portage County. Much of the land occupied by the Logistics Site is inside the Ravenna ZIP code, but I am not sure where they actually get their mail from. Funny thing is, I think I had included info about the RTLS in every article about Windham except Windham, Ohio. Oops. It's there now. Also, my mother tells me about how Richard Nixon toured the facility (along with Windham), possibly in 1968. I need to change the title to Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center (CRJMTC) as the facility has a new mission and name. Ravenna Training and Logistics Site (RTLS) is now a historic name for the facility and no longer applies to the facility and its mission.

I can change the article name. You seem to be unfamiliar with most editing policies and procedures here, so please refrain from making edits as you have actually hurt the article by removing valid sources in your attempt to update it. Using inline citations is how most Wikipedia articles work; they are then available at the bottom of the article under "References". Are there any sources for when and why the most recent name change occurred? It's obviously the current name, but it would be nice to have more sources to add to the history. Most seem to jump from the RVAAP to the Camp Ravenna name and the RTLS is still out there in a lot of recent sources. --JonRidinger (talk) 00:49, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Is there some way I can send you our offical press release? Our name change took place last summer, The Facility was redesignated as Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center (CRJMTC). This change reflected not only the name but the mission. We are no longer an Arsenal, we are now a Military Training Center Light, capable of sustaining the training needs of multiple units and activities. As an MTC Light Camp Ravenna is now the Ohio National Guards permier Military training Facility. Also be sure to mention Newton Falls Ohio as part of our facility, Many of our offices operate out the Newton Falls side of the facility with our official addresses using Newton Falls as the city. It would be really helpful if there were a website that had all this info together, though it isn't required. The press release would be nice too, especially if it were available online, though again it need not be published online to be a good source. If you would like to add some info about that to the appropriate place in the article (near the end) there is a press release citation template at WP:CITET. Whatever you were doing to edit before was removing the sources and leaving the citation number in brackets, so make sure to just use the editing space here and if you do use an outside program, be aware of things inside the "ref" brackets. Any sources used need to pass WP:RS, which is a measure of reliablility. Blogs and webboards almost always don't count as reliable sources since basically anyone can say anything on them.

As for the city, Wikipedia operates on actual locations as opposed to mailing addresses. While the facility may use the Newton Falls ZIP code (which can be mentioned), it is no more in the city limits of Newton Falls than it is in Ravenna (which is why the Ravenna, Ohio article doesn't even mention the facility). Most ZIP codes go far beyond the limits of the city they are located in and are thus inaccurate in many cases for pinpointing where something actually is. The actual location of the facility is parts of 4 townships (Charlestown, Freedom, Windham, Paris) in Portage County as well as a small part of Braceville Township in Trumbull County.

In regards to "The Arsenal" I think the article makes it pretty clear it is no longer an arsenal and hasn't been for some time. Even then, the facility is still commonly referred to in a variety of publications (and in speech, especially in this area) as the "Ravenna Arsenal" and likely will be for some time, so Wikipedia reflects that in the opening of the article. Remember, this article covers more than just the present-day use of the facility or the current "official mission". It is an outside article about the facility, not an article of or managed by the facility.

For pictures, I would highly recommend opening an account at the Wikimedia Commons and uploading pictures there provided they are your pictures taken with your own camera on your own time and can be released to the public domain. If the pictures are owned by the Ohio National Guard or were commissioned by them (especially if they are images used on their websites or publications) they would need to be uploaded here at Wikipedia (see "Upload file" on the left side of this page under "Toolbox") with a valid rationale of fair use since ONG owns the copyright. Since the facility is no longer strictly off-limits like it used to be, I would imagine getting some decent public domain images shouldn't be a problem. --JonRidinger (talk) 16:39, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
