Inclusion of some Canadian chocolate shop opened by some guy distantly related to the founder of this company[edit]

This article is about a Belgian chocolate company, a multinational and one of the biggest of the world. It says so in the opening lines Callebaut was a Belgian company and a major producer of chocolate for consumers and for professional chocolatiers. The canadian company is unrelated to this company except that the founder of that company is the great-great grandson of the guy who originally founded this company. For the rest there is no relation. It says so in the article itself: This firm (called Chocolaterie Bernard Callebaut) was not affiliated with Callebaut or with the new company Barry Callebaut. It makes no sense to make one article about two different and unrelated companies just because the founders are very distant family. Maybe in the trivia section it could be interesting to add something like "The great-great grandson of the founder of Callebaut started a little chocolate shop in Canada." But detailed information like this is frivelous.--83.128.115.179 (talk) 21:19, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I whole heartedly agree. Bernard Callebaut has neither current economic relationship nor historical company ties to the Belgian Callebaut or Barry Callebaut. Bernard Callebaut (the person) is of the Callebaut family but he moved to Canada to begin his own chocolate company, distinct from the Belgian Callebaut. I saw we remove the bit about external link to Bernard Callebaut from this wiki page!

POV Concerns[edit]

It appears that this article is... Not entirely neutral. It constantly says how great and high-quality the chocolate is without so much as mentioning any negative opinions. I'd suggest fixing that. Ntb612 (talk) 16:38, 17 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As editor of this article (and it was quite the project to tackle!) I would like to point out that the original article read almost entirely as an advertisement/a commercial brochure. I did my utter best to keep my additions as neutral as possible. But the fact of the matter is that Callebaut is an authority in the world of chocolate and is known worldwide for its premium quality, workability and taste. I felt it was only right to portray the company and its products as such.Lotofaag (talk) 15:28, 18 December 2013 (UTC+1)

I think you are both right, but a more neutral twist gives the article more credibility (hence why I fixed that). Editor from Belgium (talk) 13:44, 23 December 2013 (UTC+1)

Ruby Chocolate[edit]

I shared this news about Callebaut's alleged new chocolate discovery/creation on the Chocolate and Types of chocolate talk pages. It's probably a little too early to jump all over this, since news outlets are voicing some skepticism. In other words, it looks as if some verification may be needed before this is an official thing. But if it does turn out to be legitimate, ruby chocolate ought to be added to this article under "Innovations." Just something to watch. Kerdooskis (talk) 22:34, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
