Four years since the copyright infringement in this article was mentioned here, the problems still persist. Should this be marked for speedy deletion, masked, or some other measure to be taken? --Jeandjinni (talk) 19:17, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Episode Titles[edit]

The article says that the episode titles are unofficial, but doean't give any other information about where they are from. Did a wikipedian just make them up? Pedgeth (talk) 03:46, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sister Bernadette[edit]

We haven't been told how she spells Sheila/Shelagh. Shelagh is the Gaelic version of the name; there is nothing to suggest that she's a Gaelic speaker, and Sheila was the more popular/common of the 2 in 1930s Scotland. Given that, I'm going to revert it to the original spelling of Sheila, until/unless we get some evidence to the contrary. Beccaviola (talk) 13:49, 15 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem removed[edit]

Follow-up: I deleted the "Cast and Characters" section due to obvious and longstanding copyright infringement. Most of the text was copied and pasted from the BBC's website.

Prior content in this article duplicated one or more previously published sources. The material was copied from: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/profiles/v4fHF14CywDyMfQb3yQGxb/characters-from-call-the-midwife. Copied or closely paraphrased material has been rewritten or removed and must not be restored, unless it is duly released under a compatible license. (For more information, please see "using copyrighted works from others" if you are not the copyright holder of this material, or "donating copyrighted materials" if you are.)

For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or published material; such additions will be deleted. Contributors may use copyrighted publications as a source of information, and, if allowed under fair use, may copy sentences and phrases, provided they are included in quotation marks and referenced properly. The material may also be rewritten, providing it does not infringe on the copyright of the original or plagiarize from that source. Therefore, such paraphrased portions must provide their source. Please see our guideline on non-free text for how to properly implement limited quotations of copyrighted text. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with these policies. Thank you. Jeandjinni (talk) 19:53, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If there's copyvio, remove the copyvio content, but do not remove the whole section. That's disruptive editing that might be perceived by some as vandalism. There's no circumstances where the cast list and character names are copyvios, and there has been considerable new content added that is original writing by multiple editors. I've restored the section; I would urge you to identify the source of the copyvio text, share it here, then discuss a solution to the problem. --Drmargi (talk) 20:19, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nonsense. Nearly every single character bio was copy/pasted from the BBC link I already provided, with only minor subsequent edits by other editors. The original edit (in 2012) where the infringing content was inserted even admits in its edit summary that the content was copy/pasted in. Please do your research before reverting competent edits. Reverting your revert. Jeandjinni (talk) 04:57, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
For instance (though it's curious that the onus is on me to provide proof, when the link has already been provided), the article's character description for Chummy Noakes is a verbatim copy of this character bio at the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/profiles/12Kps5X1hHtjmCRsYJlMT0R/chummy-noakes. A cursory comparison of several other character bios (all pasted in during the same edit in 2012) reveals similar copying. If editors wish for there to be character bios on this page, they should write original text. Jeandjinni (talk) 05:03, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Once you are reverted, you discuss and gain WP:CONSENSUS for your edit. Again, removing an entire section because a portion of it is a copyvio is both excessive and disruptive. Copy-edit to rewrite the offending parts, but DO NOT remove a whole section because it contains a copyvio. --Drmargi (talk) 08:59, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The section is predominantly copyvio, which any editor can easily verify with the links I provided. I've also suggested a solution already. Authors can restore their own sections. It isn't constructive to restore the plagiarized text. The section should be deleted, and any original contributions restored by their respective authors.Jeandjinni (talk) 16:03, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Cast table[edit]

I can see both point of view here (see [article example]). I personally like the table - and many other articles have something similar.

  • However is does highlight the fact this main programme article is very "cast heavy". Perhaps we should accomodate both by reducing the article to a head and the table for cast. - and hive off the cast details to a new sub-article. Also the cast section is getting rather cumbersome with its individual infoboxes, so it clearly does need some work.
What to people think? :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 15:59, 11 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ship in the intro, season 7 anachronism.[edit]

The Dominion Monarch was scrapped at the end of 1962. That makes its appearance in the new 7th season into an anachronism. Bizzybody (talk) 10:39, 13 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

'Notes' section of the article should be removed[edit]

In my opinion, the 'Notes' section of this article should be removed as in my opinion there is no point in having an empty section in the article. Xboxsponge15 (talk) 10:58, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
