Value of including version history?[edit]

Is there really any point in including a version history in the Wiki article?! I'm not sure it serves any practical purpose... Nuwewsco 19:17, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On the basis there hasn't been any objection, I've gone ahead and removed it; please discuss here before reintroducing. Nuwewsco 18:53, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t see any reason the version history should have been removed, maybe it should be re-added? Could there be an elaboration on the pointlessness of that section? SpellSword 05:41, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Simply put, revision history can most easily be found on the main website. Placing it here causes it to be little more than excessive trivia. It was absolutely the correct move to take it out of the article. -- Huntster T@C 04:11, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is supposed to be an encyc, a compendium of timeless info! The external websites could change or vanish. History is our business. Dates and version numbers etc are appropriate. -69.87.200.135 (talk) 12:48, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CPU-Z 1.61 Timer bugs[edit]

'CPU-Z 1.61 : bugs ! posted by Franck Delattre - July 21, 2012

Some of you may have noticed that the latest version of CPU-Z (1.61) was suffering lot of bugs, especially in clocks report (CPU speed, BCLK and consequently memory clock). That deserves some explanation.

CPU-Z is using a very handy timer named "APIC timer" for clocks computation. Unfortunately for us, Windows 8 does use that timer as well, and the simultaneous use of that timer by an application causes big troubles (system crash). Microsoft declared that this timer is a not a shareable resource, so we have no other choice than to stop using that timer.' -96.233.17.252 (talk) 03:18, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ad-ware[edit]

  • Install and Remove

Since version 1.51, CPU-Z includes an installer. The installation offers several advantages in comparison to the stand-alone version :
The installation creates program entries in the start menu and on the desktop.
The kernel mode driver used by CPU-Z is installed on the system, that avoids to install / remove it at every run. That makes the process more stable and slightly faster.

These may include a toolbar, changing your homepage, default search engine or other third party programs. Please watch the installation carefully to opt out.

Yes, beware. CPU-Z installation (last week, off CNET) loaded "Coupon Companion" on my PC. When uninstalling that, its uninstall script tried to load a DNS exploit. DonPMitchell (talk) 19:41, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Same problem. Cnet download caused the "Coupon Companion" issue. Cnet was once useful; now bad. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.56.150.240 (talk) 00:05, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
