Er, CKDUs budget mostly comes from the student levy. I changed that part, as it is proveably false. Also, CKDU has never not taken ads, but has rarely, though maybe now does, take pre-produced spots (ie straight up commercials like Q104). Someone more current as a volunteer should confirm this, though I listen and never hear any commercials, just the same "tonight at the bar" type ads I have been hearing since 1986. I did not change this part as I want a confirmation from someone else (or I will list all this week and see for myself). WayeMason

My sources for most of the statements in this article are my memories of working @ CKDU as a volunteer, and received wisdom from other volunteers and my father who worked there briefly in his university days, so the stuff about CKDUs finances/advertising activities is probably not entirely accurate. The stuff about the ads was just from my experience as a volunteer- when I started, we never had to do anything other than community announcements, about 9mo or a year later we started getting the bar ads and stuff and someone told me that was new. So you're probably right!! (I was 2 years old in 1986, so your CKDU listenning experience vastly exceeds mine). --Veritol 07:23, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I think its funny that I have been complaining about how hard CKDU was to pick up since 1985, sitting behind Ellenvale Junior High, holding my walkman out at arms length and waving it around trying to optimise my signal... finally... high power this month? Amazing! I heard commercial ads on the station now, too. WayeMason 12:16, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I will be tweaking this article over the next few days to remove some errors and very POV comments, such as that the staff are underpaid (that's their POV of course - very few staff leave for better paying jobs after all)and I can scrounge up a much better list of of former members who have gone one to achieve! I'll also add an awards section. I'll report back after the tweaking. sslaytor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.137.80.110 (talk) 12:49, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re-edited CKDU Alumni list because personal opinion by previous editor is inappropriate.

See WP:NPA - please sort out your differences in another way! Thanks 20:21, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Notability Guidelines and Alumni[edit]

Editors are asked to review WP:N guidelines and make sure the people added to the list of Alumni meet the notability guidelines. A quick and dirty rule is that anyone who does not have a wikipedia article about them is not sufficiently notable to be added to the list. We seem to be on the verge of a bit of an edit war, again, and I don't want to have the page locked by the admins. Thanks! WayeMason (talk) 19:13, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The page is now locked because two days in a row the article hit the 3RR limit. Based on the edit history and comments on the page the link under Alumni to Phil Walling aka Phollop Willing PA has been being added and subsequently removed in 2007, 2008, and again in 2015. The issue seems to be that WP:N guidelines are not being met. CKDU-FM as a college radio station has 1000s of alumni, to list them all would not make the article more useful and informative. The alumni should be notable, as per the guidelines, so a quick and dirty guide is that they need to have an article on Wikipedia. Mr Walling does not meet this threshold. Strongly suggest that the poster is breaking wikipedia rules around WP:Autobiography and WP:SELFPROMOTE. Looking for thoughts and comments. WayeMason (talk) 10:31, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not done @Ckdufm: I cannot find a reference to CKDU hosting anything in 1988 in the article, and Wikipedia cannot be used as a source. Please provide another source to verify this information. I removed the sentence from the article as it is uncited, and it can be put back when a citation is provided. Z1720 (talk) 02:01, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
