Is this at all notable? Effectively its a page which says butter cake is any type of cake with butter as an ingredient and little else. Surely this should at the very most simply be a few sentences in a more generic 'Cake' article? 86.13.119.97 (talk) 15:11, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is also fairly redundant as butter cake is referred to as an american term for sponge cake on the sponge cake article and very much appears to be a variety of sponge cake in which butter is the fat used. There is nothing really unique in this article which doesn't belong in the sponge cake article. And seeing as this article has no references it seems at the very least some work is in order. 86.13.119.97 (talk) 06:18, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
