- Lead looks unbalanced with a large first para and very brief second para, perhaps level that up a little.
- Notes which are complete sentences should take a full stop (e.g. [a]).
- "who has made" reads odd, which has made?
- " since 1960" explain why this is the threshold.
- Or merge it with the following sentence and say " which was the first season they qualified for a European competition" or some such.
- "The club's following European..." which club?
- "where it was" reads odd for me in Brit Eng, "they were" works better for me.
- "other competitive European football" you mean "non-UEFA-sanctioned" or something?
- " final in 1974" hate those Easter egg links, you could pipe the whole thing, or even "the 1974 final".
- " a transfer fee was paid for only two players — Jimmy McIlroy (1950) and Alex Elder (1959)." it's odd to say transfer fee then put the year (I assume) of their transfer in parentheses. I get it but I'm not sure a non-soccer reader would.
- "Reims were the 1959–60 French Division 1 champions,[8] were" missing an "and".
- Plus too many run-ons, split this.
- "featured the likes of Just Fontaine and Raymond Kopa" to a non-expert this is "MEH". Context?
- " after he picked up the ball " non-experts screaming "isn't that what the boy did at Rugby School?"
- "and qualified as such for " no need for "as such".
- "for a hectic first round return leg against Stade de Reims" sentence, needs full stop, plus "hectic" is POV, not Wikipedia voice.
- "Hamburg were in front again inside six minutes as Gert Dörfel and Seeler scored" perhaps "both" in front of Gert there.
- "By the time Burnley ..." feels like one too many run-ons here.
- "In 1971, the" that's a proper Easter egg.
- "José Altafini's penalty (Napoli) was..." sentence so full stop but the (Napoli) thing is confusing, was it simply "for Napoli"? If so, just say that.
- Leeds United lost it's A for A.F.C. a while back.
- "Burnley won the first leg 3–1 at Lausanne's ground after conceding first" no details on goal scorers here, seem anomalous.
- "They were drawn" -> "Burnley were.."
- " be much more difficult. " for....?
- Probably need to attribute that Italian press quote, I assume the source is quoting a quote?
- "was spit in his" spat?
- "later at home in" whose home?
- "Manager Sean Dyche (2013..." image caption needs a full stop.
- " In those years," during perhaps, rather than "in"? Or even "During that period"?
- "to the fifth-tier" worth noting that's non-League?
- Perhaps just a little too much on Burnley's domestic performance, although I understand it gives the qualification for Europe some context.
- Cork is overlinked.
- "who died three" had died. And worth being clear this wasn't down to hooliganism.
- "the team missed" which team?
- "debut three minutes later.[39]" conclude with aggregate score and "they went out" etc.
- "Most appearances in European competition" UEFA-sanctioned?
- "UEFA Europa League " is suddenly linked 3/4 of the way down this list.
- Slight issue with some of the records being cited to a 2007 source when Burnley have been in Europe post-2007....
- I don't think source 47 (to RSSSF) covers most of that para e.g. "as their public showed little interest in the competition", so work needed there.
- Blank cells for single-legged games is not helpful at all for our readers.
- Also, can you clarify if the Newcastle final venue was designated neutral? Why was it played at the ground of one of the finalists?
- The "gold" and "silver" cell(s) need a symbol and a key to indicate "won/lost the tournament in the final".
- Once again, check all notes for (a) references and (b) correct punctuation.
- Ref 26, spaced hyphen, should be en-dash.
- I'm pretty sure UEFA is a publisher, not a work.
That's it, first pass, I think there's more to do than this, but this is my initial assessment. Putting it on hold. The Rambling Man (Hands! Face! Space!!!!) 19:38, 2 October 2020 (UTC)

- Sorry for taking so long to get back to this, I missed the ping, but I'm generally content that this more than meets the GA requirements so I'm happy to promote it. Cheers. The Rambling Man (Hands! Face! Space!!!!) 19:26, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
