Bit more information?[edit]

One thing that wasn't addressed is, actual / true penetration distances. 6' of reinforced concrete has no meaning if that bunker is 80' underground or 10' underground or even under 3' of soil. Can anyone explain what the maximum depth of earth and target measured is? Jachin 14:20, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Halts in production[edit]

This section refers to dates in this order: 

 1. 8 Feb 2005
 2. "Later in August" [ie, 2005]
 3. 1 Jan 2005
 4. "March 2 of the same year" [ie, 2005]

Clearly some of these dates are wrong, and the link to a Yahoo article is dead. Can someone fix this? -- Slowmover 19:52, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Durandals?[edit]

Is it possible for BLU-107 Durandals to be used as bunker busters? Or is it that they've never been used like that? Sandy of the CSARs

Not sure you'd want to. The BLU-107 is specifically designed to penetrate, then crater, a runway -- once it penetrates the surface, it blows out to make a big hole in the runway surface. A bunker buster is designed to pentrate much deeper than a runway surface and then detonate. Hzoi 07:09, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disney Bomb?[edit]

concrete penetration[edit]

Can someone confirm the penetration referred to in the table is (or is not) the amount of concrete penetrated before the bomb explodes?

Depleted Uranium Use[edit]

In various articles, I have read about Bunker Busters containing Uranium or Depleted Uranium penetraters. Now it seems that none of the manufacturers want to admit that their warheads use or used DU or Uranium. I remember seeing the "Shock and Awe" bombing of Baghdad and being told on the news of Saddam's bunkers beneath the city and how they were being blown up with "surgical precision". Certainly there have been many reports of miscarriages and birth defects, consistent with radiation exposure in Iraq. Is anybody interested in dealing with the truth? JNH - Jan 25, 2009
