Year of birth?[edit]

I am fairly confused regarding his year of birth. The article says 1889. However, quite a few sources give 1881, e.g. [1][2][3]. Some others do give 1889, e.g. [4][5]. Overall, I am really quite confused. Does anyone know what the real deal is? If the precise year of birth is unknown, this should probably be mentioned in the article. The marriage license says "23 years of age on the 12th day of December 1914." which implies 1991 is the correct year. However it is not unknown for people to give false dates on certificates, especially actors, and even more common on military documents.
