Fancy Bluff Creek[edit]

The Brunswick River is named Fancy Bluff Creek at Google Maps. Brunswick River doesn't occur at all. Why is this name difference? Regards, Dionysos1988 (talk) 16:11, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen that on Google Maps and it is incorrect. It shows "Fancy Bluff Creek" all over - even on some smaller rivers that have a name different from the Brunswick River. Bubba73 ^{You talkin' to me?} 00:32, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The mouth of Fancy Bluff Creek is near 31.145 N, 81.546 W. It runs into the South Brunswick River. Bubba73 ^{You talkin' to me?} 23:38, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hoax[edit]

There is no such river as the Brunswick River. The body of water being described in this article is indeed Fancy Bluff Creek. Google Maps has since corrected the erroneous applications of Fancy Bluff Creek - however note that the creek has multiple branches and swamp channels in and around its mouth, so those are technically not their own body of water. Not anymore it isn't. They've fixed the erroneous identifications of Fancy Bluff Creek and now only identifies the river itself and its swamp branches, which is correct. 24.34.85.169 (talk) 01:20, 12 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This source states "Fancy Bluff is a large network of tidal creeks and tributaries in southern Glynn County." - which in turn means that there is more than one body of water named Fancy Bluff Creek. This source says that Brunswick River is the former and historical name of Fancy Bluff Creek. The article also links to the US Geological Survey and it lists Brunswick River.

Honestly, I like Google's solution to the complex cartography of the area. Every waterway in Georgia should just be "Fancy Bluff Creek". Also, every city "Jesup". It cracks me up that you actually went out and took a picture of the sign... Kuru (talk) 02:10, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I was so aggravated that I had to prove myself right, even after 10PM. I had to go to the South Brunswick River. It and the Turtle River feed into the Brunswick River proper, but the only bridge that crosses it is the Sidney Lanier Bridge, and it doesn't have signs giving the river name or the bridge name. (I knew that.)

There are a lot of rivers around here, as the last website I posted shows. One of them IS Fancy Bluff Creek - it connects the South Brunswick River to the Little Satilla River. Bubba73 ^{You talkin' to me?} 04:00, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
