Should have an actual list of all the Brownlow winners.

All the past winners are listed on BrownlowMedal.com.

Removed 'former'[edit]

The criticism section named Chris Judd as a 'former' dual-winner. As neither of his medals have been taken away, he is not a 'former' winner. He will most likely be a winner for the rest of his life. Charlie?[edit]

Where is the evidence that it is known informally as "Charlie"? That claim exists only in the lead, and there is no source.

A far more common informal name is simply "the Brownlow". The Brownlow article in today's edition of The Age gives a perfect example. HiLo48 (talk) 03:54, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Quick Google search gives examples of last Wednesday's Age article here and an article from the Herald Sun in 2009 here which both refer to it as "Charlie" in the headline, and many others are easily found. Is a single example in a major newspaper sufficient to serve as a reliable source of its colloquial usage? Aspirex (talk) 08:03, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This is a difficult area. Examples of use are not secondary sources. A good secondary source would describe such usage. But I can personally accept your examples as proof that Charlie is used. Just dunno if Wikipedia can. HiLo48 (talk) 08:12, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's very obvious why it would be "Charlie" (as opposed to "Freddie", "Harry" or "George"), so no explanation is required. All we need is reputable sources confirming that it is indeed sometimes called "Charlie" - and here are a handful more: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5]. -- Jack of Oz [your turn] 05:20, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ineligibility prior to 2005.[edit]

This is not completely accurate. I know in the 80s for example you could be suspended for one week for 'time wasting' and still get the Brownlow. Can anyone with the full details update this section? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 136.8.2.68 (talk) 00:19, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm. I don't recall that exception at all. My understanding is that time wasting would have been regarded as unfair, and hence breach the first criterion of the medal. HiLo48 (talk) 00:43, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Ross" - missing reference[edit]

Currently, three footnotes cite "Ross" as a source, and give a page number. However, there is no full reference for this source - no title, no full name of the author, no publisher. Presumably this information was in there at some time, but got deleted inadvertently during an edit. I don't know enough to fix this, but hopefully someone does...
