Proofreading & Consistency/Continuity[edit]

Is there some way to say that Griffin's books have by far the worst proofreading I've seen in print? I thought it was going to change when he started getting published in hardcover, but it hasn't.

Agreed - and this series is better than "The Corps" by far. Jhharris54 15:20, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong. That distinction belongs to Clive Cussler. His inappropriate word choices are like speed bumps on a highway. 24.125.58.26 (talk) 19:55, 27 September 2009 (UTC)kjdamrau[reply]

I hope no one objects; I've created a heading for this aspect of the discussion. I think even Griffin fans are aware of this aspect of his work. I have looked for authoritative or scholarly articles on this aspect of Griffin's work, but I have not come up with much except for reader reviews on places like Amazon.I'd be interested if people can link not only to catalogs of errors, but any comment from Mr. Griffin or his son (who is taking over many of the franchises) on a) why this happens and/or b) what editing and review process takes place (if any). FYI, another inconsistency: In The Aviators, initially, when John Oliver becomes Bob Bellmon's aide, the narrative speaks of how he winced when he wrote the check for the Mess Dress uniforms he'd need for formal occasions Later in the book, the narrative indicates that, while Oliver was serving in Viet Nam, he purchased a Mess Dress uniform (as well as an Omega aviators watch) while vacationing in Hong Kong. Let's not forget things like when you first meet Mayor Dutton he has several children, the youngest being Melody, then later on she becomes an only child. Sadly the list of these sorts of errors show up throughout the books. I will say that the editing is better in the Brotherhood of War series than the Corps. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mercwyn (talkcontribs) 00:08, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
