Vandalism

There is some fairly obvious vandalism in the form of an unsourced claim in the first paragraph. I have removed it.Cross Reference (talk) 19:47, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Brokebackmountainbookcoverannieproulx.jpg[edit]

Image:Brokebackmountainbookcoverannieproulx.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Ask E. Annie Proulx your questions about Brokeback Mountain[edit]

EAP will appear on the BBC radio programme World Book Club discussing The Shipping News and Brokeback Mountain. This is a page with ways to submit questions.[1] Recording will probably take place in August or September 2008. I will add the date when when it is announced. My revert of 00:18, 20 June 2009[edit]

Just thought I'd say why I did a straight revert of the anonymous contributor's edit. The text that was replaced was interesting and relevant (though uncited) in terms of noting aspects of the translation process between the short story and the film. The edit replaced these with information sliced straight out of the film page, and that diminishes the information in Wikipedia as a whole, by replication. I'd love to see the information in that section cited properly. But replacing it with a duplication is not the right approach here, I feel.

use of original dialog[edit]

"Nearly all of the dialogue and descriptions from the original story were included in the screenplay." This is what Larry McMurtry claims, but it isn't true. Significant pieces of dialog were dropped, including Ennis telling Jack of his intense sexual attraction for him, and Jack telling Ennis why he finds sex with him so pleasurable. The scene near the end where Jack forces his hand between Ennis's thighs, and Ennis unbuttons Jack's shirt, preliminary to an implicit sex scene, is notably missing from the film. One can't read Larry McMurtry's mind, but as his novels have few sex scenes, and those are brief and not highly descriptive, it would appear that he was consciously trying to de-sexualize the story. One of the early screenplays has the camera "stepping outside" the tent when Ennis takes Jack. WilliamSommerwerck (talk) 01:06, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

opera[edit]

Hstokar (talk) 22:05, 30 October 2012 (UTC)New York City Opera never had a scheduled date for the premiere. Also not correct to use the term shelved. New YorkCity Opera collapsed and could not support the commissioning on any new work. Hstokar (talk) 16:24, 31 October 2012 (UTC)Shouldn't the opera have its own page?[reply]

fan fiction content source[edit]

The BBC World Service Dec 30 at 48:15 does a bit about fanfiction using BBM as its hook. Dont know if there is anything useful for this article or not. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 17:24, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
