Is this still up-to-date? The list of network breakdowns would also fit nicely on my article, Sports television: broadcast contracts. Anybody want to expand on it? Lambertman 14:35, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ideas for future edits[edit]

Earlier, an editor was about to do what I'm going to suggest, but he seems to have vanished. I was considering moving the sports-by-network listing out of here into either (a) the existing Sports television: broadcast contracts article, which already has similar lists for the USA and Canada; or (b) creating sub-pages for each country TV sports Contracts: North America, TV sports contracts: United Kingdom, et al. I would also recommend a title change for this article to a cleaner TV sports - or anything else that might read a little easier than "Broadcasting of sports events" and that would allow for easy subpages for each nation's individual lists of TV rights. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Lambertman 13:50, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What is the world's largest sporting event? Two thirds of the world tuned into some portion of the Beijing Olympics. Can the World Cup claim that wide of an audience. Some references are going to have to be included to validate each of the "largest viewership" claims. It would be nice if each of the claims was expounded upon (e.g., The Tour de France is often claimed as the largest audience because more people watch it live than any other event--20 million people line the roads to watch the Tour de France. The World Cup Final is the single most watched event worldwide. The Summer Olympics has the widest audience, etc. Jon314 (talk) 15:48, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Listen Jon314, please check your facts first, that is why they are in the talk section and not the article, any simple research will show you that your first fact is infact fiction... By saying tuned, it sounds as if you refer to watched with the use of a television, that being the case two thirds of the world does not own a television. The only thing that needs to expand here is your ability to look up information instead of spewing a steady stream of false information into articles... Congratulations, your an idiot... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 153.29.176.61 (talk) 13:17, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not an authority, but I was wondering when sports first had live coverage (my main interest is sailing). The "History" section syas "first televised sporting event occurred 1939 ..." That's contrary to the Wikipedia page: Timeline of televised football in the United Kingdom - perhaps someone can fix this page. Robertpaynter (talk) 17:39, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

WGN[edit]

WGN has a wide range of programming; however, should it be mentioned here for its focus on on Cubs and White Sox baseball? KingAlanI (talk) 18:22, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Criticism[edit]

I think a 'Criticism' section should be added. Many important thinkers have stated the negative effects broadcasting of sports causes to modern societies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.83.242.64 (talk) 15:20, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely. Some explanation of why mass media companies think they can censor YouTube would do. Oh, and please remember to sign your posts. 68.173.113.106 (talk) 14:43, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New redirect[edit]

I typed in "televised sports." That led me to a search page. This was the first article listed. It did say, though, that "televised sport" does redirect here. Shouldn't "televised sports redirect here as well? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.142.177.24 (talk) 17:36, 19 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And [2]. I've got no real interest in this, just happened upon it by chance. Doug Weller (talk) 10:23, 10 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
