New Livery[edit]

I feel that now its now time to say that I think that we need some photos of the trains in their new liveries and with the new refurbished interiors since theres no longer any operational 333s in the old Northern livery. Pepper Gaming (talk) 17:02, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Named unit?[edit]

So I was watching a youtube video on the 333s just showing the in action and I saw something interesting , one of the 333s in the video had a name sticker on it couldn’t make out the unit number.

Does anybody have any news sources covering any 333s getting a name sticker? The video can’t be used as proof here so I’m not posting it

Named sticker can be seen in the video, to read Alderman J Arthur goodman first lord mayor of Bradford in case that helps anybody.

I’ll keep searching for a news article now but if any other editors can help with this that would be great. Maurice Oly (talk) 19:10, 3 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi There, Two 333's used to have names (333007 and 333011) but the name stickers got removed when they went for refurbishment. Hope This Helps Pepper Gaming (talk) 01:18, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Pepper Gaming: that helps a lot, do you have any what wikiapeada considers a reliable source to back that up?

reliable sources are all that is needed to create a section on the page about the named units. Maurice Oly (talk) 01:31, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Build date[edit]

Was the class 333 built between 1999-2000 or 2000-2001?

Could anybody find a reliable source proving when the class 333 was built.

This railway

Anybody here know when the class 333s were built? It was thought on here for some time it seems that the class 333 was built between 1999 and 2000 but somebody edited the wikipeda page claiming the 333s were built between 2000 and 2001.

Anybody here able to find a reliable source stating the build date of the class 333? Maurice Oly (talk) 04:03, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Would this be counted? Basically searching for the oldest photos of the unit we can estimate the build date. Here is a Flickr search which I have done using the term "Class 333" and sorting by date taken descending between 01-01-1999 and 31-12-2001 here is the link to the search: https://www.flickr.com/search/?text=class%20333&sort=date-taken-desc&min_taken_date=915148800&max_taken_date=1009843199 I know it is probably not considered "Reliable" but it can give us a close enough estimate. We are not here to estimate. If not reliable, don’t add. SK2242 (talk) 17:01, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, see WP:NOR. But what's so difficult about locating a reliable source? According to
  • Pritchard, Robert (2020). British Railways Locomotives & Coaching Stock 2020. Sheffield: Platform 5 Publishing. p. 287. ISBN 978-1-909431-58-4.
the DMS and PTS were built in 2001, whereas the TS were built 2002-03. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 22:45, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

So in other words 2000-2001 is the build date then as that is when the DMS and PTS were built? Or do should 2000-2003 be put as the build year to accommodate for the build date of the TS?.

When choosing the build date to put folks please be mindful of references 1 and 2.

Reference one gives the build year as 2000, reference 2 gives the build year as 2001-2003.

Reference one is Siemens Mobility’s website and reference 2 is angel trains’s website. Maurice Oly (talk) 02:59, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Depending on how much testing occurred in Europe before delivery, is conceivable that the first was completed in 1999, but certainly by March 2000 when the first arrived in Leeds per contemporary reports in Rail, Railway Gazette International and The Railway Magazine. Goes to prove that even the Platform 5 books and ROSCOs can get it wrong. Extra trailers were built in 2002 and 2003. Metro140 (talk) 23:35, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Revision[edit]

In my edit summary to this page in my last edit I used the year 2000, I ment 2001 my bad. Maurice Oly (talk) 03:58, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
