Comments[edit]

The article makes no reference to the fact Bramall Lane is now often referred to as "Beautiful downtown Bramall Lane" - I don't know who is responsible for that name (I think prematch announcer Gary Sinclair started calling it that), but it's become a common nickname.

Online, it tends to be abbreviated to BDTBL. It's a very Sheffield joke in many ways - there's nothing terribly beautiful about the lane, and "downtown" makes it sound like it's in some stylish quarter of Sheffield or something. 83.67.74.208 12:43, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've noticed that the official capacity seems to be shown as exactly 33,000 on most sites. I know that the Blades had official total sell outs against Man Utd (32,586) and Man City (32,591). Anyhow in the Shareholders financial report brochure that I saw in December 2006 it states that Bramall Lane currently possess 32,609 seats. So I think it would be more accurate to use this figure. Building Work Photo/s[edit]

I think that EnglishPremier.Net have copied from Wikipedia, and not the other way round. The article on EP.net is dated 31 July 2006 — long after most of the identical content was in place here. —JeremyA 18:21, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

EP.net is in no way an official website, and it would not surprise me in the slightest if they had indeed X&V from wiki (since wiki is a well-known site). But for this, would the article warrant GA status? OK, maybe a rewrite so it less pro-united (it is difficult to keep NPOV since we are all essentially writing about what we're interested in! Remove (sponsored XXX) from all the stands and incorporate it into the section
Remove, merge or expand the one sentence paragraphs, the ones in Cricket at Bramall Lane can surely be merged together to create a paragraph.
While additive terms like “also”, “in addition”, “additionally”, “moreover”, and “furthermore” may sometimes be useful, overusing them when they aren't necessary can instead detract from the brilliancy of the article. This article has 15 additive terms, a bit too much.
The site was then away from the town's industrial site, and relatively free from smoke. 'away' smoke? from a cricket ground to this random sentence
The word 'the' is overused
29 December 1862, this should be December 2, 1862, do this to all dates. All dates with moth, day and year should be wikilinked like above.
Not GA requirement but categories look nicer in alphabetical order.

Oldest international ground[edit]

The oldest international football ground in the world is in fact the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham, which hosted the first internation match outside Glasgow or London, Wales v Scotland, on 5th March 1877. The Racecourse Ground is still an international venue to this day, and will host it's 92nd international match, Wales v New Zealand, on 26th May 2007. 81.153.11.46 22:48, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

athletics[edit]

Sheffield Football Club hosted an annual athletics meeting on the Bramall Lane ground from 1858. from 1863 another club, Norfolk Football Club (named after Duke of Norfolk who owned the ground, not Norfolk the county) also hosted athletics at Bramall Lane. in 1870 these two events were held on the 4th and 11th of April, respectively. see, for example, Sheffield Daily Telegraph, Tue 29 Mar 1870 page 1 where you can find adverts for these two events.Cottonshirt τ 05:52, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
