International?[edit]

Does this airport have customs and immigration services? Without this service it isn't an international airport and the infobox title is incorrect. Roger (talk) 10:37, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Best Roger, please go to DHA web page for info on "port of entry" for the airport. The entry at Bloemfontein states: "24 hours on call-out" with a phone number - I suppose it means you can land there from overseas and call the customs officials to clear your entry into S.A. [Hope it clarifies your concern!] Aliwal2012 (talk) 20:34, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: No consensus to move. Two full weeks of listing, two opposes and no supports apart from the nominator. There doesn't seem to be firm evidence that the common name has yet changed. (non-admin closure)  — Amakuru (talk) 14:27, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bloemfontein AirportBram Fischer International Airport – The official name is BFIA, as is noted in the text of the article, and in this official statement and on the official site. Official new names are used on wp for SA airports - see also O. R. Tambo International Airport Relisted. • Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME. ORTIA was renamed several years ago and the name has become commonly used. The latest round of renamings happened quite recently, had minimal publicity, and the names are not (yet) widely used in press and other reliable sources. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 20:21, 15 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose move, the common name of this airport has not changed, and the guideline is to not follow "official" names that are not in common use. - WPGA2345 - 23:25, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
