Expansion tag[edit]

This was previously marked as a disambiguation page, but I don't think that was appropirate. It needs to be expanded to explain the origin of the term and why it has been used in these different ways. Honbicot 07:40, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it is a DAB and there has to be one for this term. Because of this we'll need to loose the intro story. Here it is please use it in the appropriate non-DAB article:

Duchy of Brabant, Burgundian Netherlands, Holy Roman Empire[edit]

I made two changes to the page. One of them I know is right, namely, that Brabant was part of the Burgundian Netherlands from 1430-1482 (after which, it was part of the Habsburg Netherlands). I am less sure about how long Brabant was part of the Holy Roman Empire. My understanding is that the time it was part of the Holy Roman Empire technically overlaps with the time it was part of the Burgundian and Habsburgs Netherlands, and that Brabant remained a part of the Holy Roman Empire until 1556. Or perhaps until the Pragmatic Sanction of 1549. In any case, I know the page is at least more accurate now than before I revised it.Dulcimermusic 01:47, 21 July 2013 (UTC)JDefauw[reply]
