Molestation

What about the molestations that happened at the Boys Town in Banning?[1]

This does in fact refer to a different boys town if you read the article linked to above it says

"...Boys Town in Banning. The now-demolished school was modeled after the storied Nebraska institution..."

But what is relevant is the Franklin child abuse allegations which were connected to boys town Nebraska because Lawrence E. King donated large amounts of money and also provided employment for many of Boys Town's young men. It is alleged that King amongst others used Boys Town children as child prostitutes, and encouraged them to coax other Boy's Town children into child prostitution. It is only fair to mention that the Boys Town staff were not implicated and are said to regret relations with Lawrence E. King. Source for this is the documentary Conspiracy of Silence which is available on the internet in several places.

Charles Manson

Charles Manson connection?

The Charles Manson article states that he was briefly sent to Boys Town. I don't think it needs to be mentioned here, as it was long before the events that Manson is notable for. Rodparkes 06:08, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

As an alumni, as far as I know, the story on his being there was that what he got kicked out for at the end of those four days was taking a knife and then using it to steal a van. There is a similar Boys Town organization in Australia (www.boystown.com.au) - is it an offshoot? It should either be mentioned here or disambiguated from this one, as appropriate. Rodparkes 06:08, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Does anyone have any information on how effective the Boys Town hotline is? If so, would it be relevant to the article to include information about the hotline?

Does anybody else think this article reads like a brochure for Boys Town?

2015 abuse case

I deleted this passage because there is no immediate relevance to Boys Town. The offender was no longer at BT at the time of the transgression and there is no reliable sourcing indicating that she was a problem while at BT. It invites innuendo. In 2015, a former supervisor at a Boys Town group treatment home was convicted of having sex with a minor, aged 17. The offender, a 32-year-old woman, was sentenced to five years probation.
