Untitled[edit]

This page about Boyd Coddington is gonna be a hell of a bitch to write. Most of his background (i.e. before 1990's) is hard to find, and most of his noteriety is more focused on his bankruptcy, his rivalry with Chip Foose, and his show American Hot Rod, which has garnered mixed reviews by people, from outright disgust to enamourment. I'm convinced there is no way a neutral article about him can be written about him.

I'm sure a neutral article can be written, but first some actual biographical information has to be obtained. But I'm sure I'm not the right person to do it, as he appears to be a sour old man with poor people skills and a congenital inability to credit others. Not the sort of person many want to write a biographical article about.K8 fan 04:15, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think you've characterized him pretty accurately. A couple other things that I've read might be of interest. First, it's come to my attention that he was a "long-term diabetic" And there's this column from Jalopnik: http://jalopnik.com/361403/boyd-coddington-remembered which gives a little information about him. From my own observations, I can state that after a well-publicized mess at Speed Week in August 2007 involving a spinout of their roadster while his wife, Jo was driving (she was the only driver entered for that car) and the sinking through the salt crust and into the mud below of his mammoth motorhome followed by no less than 5 tow trucks becoming mired in the mud, BC and his race team returned to the salt flats for the World Finals event (October 2007) they comported themselves as just another race team in search of a speed record. I believe that BC was quoted as saying, "no dog and pony shows this time" in reference to the discovery channel's helicopter and video crew that were highly visible during Speed Week. I photographed a lot of their effort (as an independent photographer) and saw a racing effort that was no different than any other race teams. I don't think I'd be qualified to write a biography of him, either, since my only interaction with him was as a competitor on the salt flats. Bruno (talk) 12:25, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The show's fate?[edit]

What is going to happen to the show now that Coddington has passed away (rest in piece...)? Have any sort of announcements been made? Moreover, who inherits the business? Regards, --Kurt Leyman (talk) 01:59, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

i know the word is hard to spell, especially for Americans :-), but it's PEACE; rest in peace! Ok, you're finnish, that's an excuse ;-) 88.67.46.68 (talk) 11:07, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

The 29 August 2008 edit of this page needs to be reverted. (UNDO didn't work due to subsequent edits) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.243.194.141 (talk) 01:41, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edits by this user show slight alterations that don't make sense, as in being hospitalized in December after New Years Eve. Probably vandalism. 68.205.121.121 (talk) 16:14, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hospitalization[edit]

The article reads "Coddington had been hospitalized December 31, 2007 shortly after New Year's Eve". Obviously one thing contradicts the other. Was on it the New Year's Eve or was it after then? Norum (talk) 19:37, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ship of Theseus?!-Shouldn't we have a more straigtforward explanation than that for a an issue involve car registrations? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 154.5.187.202 (talk) 21:44, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Link vandalism[edit]

User Boydcoddingtonjr seems to be editing external links, either by removing them, or redirecting to alternate domains. The alternate sites appear to all contain the same content: a commercial site for wheels manufactured by "Genuine Boyds." The user name suggests a connection to this company as well as to this article. Jd72ns (talk) 03:24, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The 'ship of theseus' reference is the legal terminology. You can simplify the meaning as much as you wish, but in a legal case this term would be used. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.193.67.130 (talk) 01:31, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
