Notable People[edit]

Wiley is a member of Roll Deep. He has a new song called Bow E3 talking about how he comes from Bow in E3. Does that count as a citation?

If I remember correctly, David Bowie wrote a song about coming from Mars ... if there's any independent validation - say in a national newspaper, or even music mag - then fair enough. There's also a question of notability, are they particularly notable - well they were nominated for a MOBO, so maybe. Kbthompson (talk) 10:58, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In a few years time "Roll deep" will never be heard of, so mentioning a fact that that will, in the not to distant future just cause confusion. I have never heard of this roll deep, i came here for the historic feature of Bow. So i think the mentioning of this should be kept to the page of roll deep, if indeed they have one. Bow Porecelain[edit]

Hi, this was added:

No remains of the kilns were found at the Bell and Black factory. Further documentary and archaeological evidence suggests the concern was located entirely to the north of the High Street, Stratford. [Adams, E. and Redstone, D. 1991 (1981) Bow Porcelain London/Boston 231]

There a couple of points here that need discussion

  1. The talk page is the place for discursive points
  2. It contradicts the existing (available on-line) ref for the existing para. Which states "the foundations of one of the kilns were discovered, with a large quantity of 'wasters' and fragments of broken pottery."

I'd dispute the first sentence of the addition, as it contradicts the 1867 discovery. However, the second sentence could usefully be added as a qualification - with a properly formatted reference, rather than a marginal note. Any thoughts? Thanks Kbthompson (talk) 17:15, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK, a form of words has been put back in, reflecting the differing sources. Kbthompson (talk) 08:23, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bow Porcelain 2[edit]

This sentence contains an asterisks, which is often used to indicate a footnote

In 1867, during some drainage operations at the match factory of Messrs. Bell & Black at Bell Road, St. Leonard's Street, the foundations of one of the kilns were discovered*...

Yet there is no clarification for that, no corresponding footnote marked with *

Licensing of chapel at ease in 1311[edit]

The article states that the chapel at ease was licensed in 1311 on highway land granted by Edward III, but Edward III was born in 1312 and did not come to the throne until 1327.92.29.239.119 (talk) 19:11, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bridge image[edit]

Regarding [[File:ECR(1851) p18b - Bow Bridge.jpg|thumb|left|upright|Bow Bridge depicted in 1851]]

This bridge was the one replaced by a single span in 1834. The engraving is from a book published in 1851.truthordare (talk) 10:46, 22 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Comment moved to talk page by Retro (talk | contribs) 13:02, 22 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The image was obviously copied from an antique line engraving by J. Rogers after W. Bartlett published in 1832. As the bridge was replaced in 1834 I can't see how the bridge was "depicted" thus in 1851.19:56, 24 December 2019truthordare (talk) 19:58, 24 December 2019 (UTC) (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Truthordare (talkcontribs) [reply]
