Olof Bjorner and Concert Dates[edit]

I've compared the article's concert date tables with Olof's Still on the Road and Skeleton Keys, which is a complete listing. Following are dates missing from the article's tables as compared to Olof, with other sources indicated:

Feb 20 Montreal, Place des Arts - Montreal Gazette articles
Mar 13 Denver, no venue - all major bios, from Scaduto to Sounes
Mar 24 Tacoma, no venue - no other source
Apr 19 Melbourne, Festival Hall - DylanStubs newspaper advert
May 6 Belfast (not Dublin), ABC Cinema - Shelton's No Direction Home

Olof cites May 2 for the Dublin concert and doesn't have May 5, which is in the table. Also, Olof doesn't have the Mar 24 Portland concert at the Paramount Theatre, which is confirmed by a DylanStubs ticket stub. Also, Olof indicates the possibility of other concerts (the subject is worthy of a footnote), but is uncertain regarding specific dates.

I am inclined to add the five concerts noted above, including May 6 Belfast. The discrepancies over the Dublin dates need to be worked out. Small points aside, the tables lend much to our understanding of the scope of the tour and its grueling schedule. Allreet (talk) 19:37, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pre '66 Tour[edit]

Should anything be added to this article about the concerts Dylan gave in late 1965, after his electric conversion at Newport? Can these be considered as part of the same tour? There is information about these concerts in this article; it seems appropriate that these dates should be added to the "Dates" section. BootleggerWill (talk) 20:35, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cancelled show on 27 March[edit]

The Spokesman-Review for March 28, 1966 (p.6) has "Money was refunded to an estimated 2,000 Bob Dylan enthusiasts Sunday, ticket agents said. A truck carrying instuments and sound equipment had broken down en route, forcing cancellation of the show slated for 4pm in the Coliseum." Heylin (1996) has a Tacoma show listed on this date (literally just the date and city); I had added it to the list but have now removed it. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 17:56, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Tour dates[edit]

This might be seen as a very late reply to BootleggerWill's question above.

I think that based on the balance of sources I've looked at, the "World Tour" really started in April 1966. Possible changes would be either taking out the US dates to another article, or renaming the article to something that could incorporate dates before April 66, either from 1965 or the 1966 US dates. Agree: April 1966. Shelton and Sounes are the only major sources I could find that refer to the "1965-66 world tour". Bjorner, like Scaduto and Heylin, separates the two years, but includes the February-March dates even though they're clearly an extension of the tour that began the previous fall. Michael Gray does something similar, but more accurately refers to the 1966 dates as the "so-called World Tour". Meanwhile, BennyOnTheLoose provides a slew of sources that limit the tour's start to April. Thus, I believe the article - and particularly its lede - needs to be re-written to reflect these differences in opinion and fact. Allreet (talk) 23:50, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to suggest the 1966 World Tour commenced in the U.S. on February 4 in Louisville, Ky, and ended in London on May 27, 1966. The tour is unified for 3 months (March, April, May) by the same musicians (with the exception of Konikoff being replaced by Jones) and the same set list is played every night after March 5. I congratulate whoever supplied the Courier-Journal, Louisville, review as a cite since that concert doesn’t appear in Bjorner’s website listing of the 1966 tour [1] or in Heylin's 1996 book, A Life in Stolen Moments, and it makes this WP article impressively comprehensive.
