Football related edits[edit]

This is a disambiguation page - what that means is, a page for people to look up the exact name of the Bluenose-related article they're looking for.

It isn't the place to discuss which football clubs' fans are called Bluenoses or not, or which the original one was, or whether they like it or not. If you want to talk about that, there are loads of football messageboards. Or if you'd like to contribute to Wikipedia, you could write an article about football fans' nicknames. Perhaps there already is one - if there is, that would be an appropriate place to talk rationally about it.

But if you keep on changing this disambiguation page, it isn't fair on other users who might need to use it for what it's there for. Struway 13:40, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It isn't only a matter of football anyway. 'Bluenose' is a sectarian slur used by Catholics in Ireland and the West of Scotland to refer to all Protestants. It is directly analogous to taig used by Protestants to refer to Catholics. The Rangers thing is just a manifestation of this sectarianism. --Ef80 (talk) 14:26, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
