Additions[edit]

More expansion can be done on this article from the Japanese Wikipedia article (ja:ブルートレイン (日本)), and from the various news articles which have come up recently, following announcements of the plans to discontinue the services. One such article can be found here: 東京駅発、消えゆくブルトレ 「銀河」「富士」「はやぶさ」…利用客減、廃止の方向 (Asahi Shinbun, 26 November 2007). I may come back to do this translation work myself, though I don't have the time or energy right now. If anyone else is interested, please do jump in. Akebono & Cassiopeia[edit]

Although the Akebono is still listed as 'seasonal' service, in fact it has not run since the 2014 spring season. It can effectively be treated as discontinued, since there is no chance it will return even on a seasonal basis after March 2016 when the other Aomori services are scheduled to be discontinued.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 猫に小判 (talkcontribs) 13:52, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Despite some earlier confusion (on my part..), I confirmed that the Cassiopeia will run until Sunday Mar 20, 2016, from Hakodate to Ueno (arrives Ueno Monday morning, Mar 21). After it is discontinued, it will leave the Sunrise Izumo/Seto as the only sleeping services in Japan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 猫に小判 (talkcontribs) 14:27, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
