Cheating allegations[edit]

with respect to there being no allegations of cheating against pietro forquet, alan truscott in "the new york times bridge book" states that benito bianchi, a former partner of forquet, admits to cheating with him in a taped telephone call to italian player and writer leandro burgay. in the early 1970's forquet and bianchi managed to beat the American team, along with their partners, garozzo and belladonna, even though playing a new system and even though they had never played together before. bianchi further states that belladonna had previously cheated with a former partner as well. the cheating was supposedly accomplished with cigarettes, using one hand or another or some other variations. the italian bridge organization investigated and cleared all named except burgay and bianchi who were charged with procedural infractions, even though the authenticity of the telephone call was proven.

Update[edit]

The foregoing entries were made some time ago in April and June of 2007.

In 2018, a book by Australian Avon Wilsmore title Under the Table, provides evidence and references that allegations of cheating were made against all members of the Blue Team from their earliest times. I will review the details and the references and update the Cheating and Controversies section as appropriate. Newwhist (talk) 18:37, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Roman is not a "Short Club" system[edit]

It is a system that uses 1C for a variety of hands, the majority of which are not strong hands. The closest systems to it are probably the old Vienna system and the modern Polish Club. It has not much resemblance to the Blue Club or the other Big Club sysems. 65.79.173.135 (talk) 18:35, 9 January 2009 (UTC) Will in New Haven65.79.173.135 (talk) 18:35, 9 January 2009 (UTC)==[reply]
