Nice! Seems like more people are listening to metal nowadays. Hopefully they're in it for real, not just because this is a rather hyped album. #22 on the Billboard 200 is impressive! Leak

Seriously, how is this encyclopedic, at all? EVERY album nowadays that is in some way shape of form "anticipated" leaks, even if it is mere days before, or in this case a month before the release. It's more accurate than melodic death metal... perhaps the latter describes COB's earlier style better, but their style lately is more "extreme power metal" than "melodic death metal". Dan (talk) 04:03, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Actually I believe this tag should be placed on Bodom's page and on the albums preceding Are You Dead Yet?, but aftere hearing the released singles and seeing the blooddrunk video, this falls more under melodic death metal, and though they are from Finland, it bears extreme resemblance to Swedish death metal.--Gmunnywhiskers (talk) 01:37, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

You are all overlooking a very important thing: Wikipedia is not based on the opinion of one person. Edit wars emerge from people just changing a genre simply because they don't think it's one thing or the other. We should just leave extreme power metal there until the album is officially released... because only then will we have a reliable source that will tell us what the genre is. Actually, the source of the edit war you describe is adding and defending unsourced content. Your argument is, essentially, "We don't have any way of knowing if it is A or B. So rather than changing it to B, we should leave it as A." Pointless.

While you might or might not be able to source a genre for the band or for a released album, you can discuss it from a factual basis. Not so with an unreleased album.

While I agree with you, Mdsummermsw... It's not like Bodom is gonna go softcore on us or anything like that. They aren't the kind of band that just randomly changes genres. I noticed your edit, which, IMO, is the way to go. Without the album to hear, there is no basis for deciding Melodic death metal vs. Extreme power metal vs. Power metal vs. Swedish death metal vs. Polka-infused cool jazz. What I was saying though, was not that this album will suddenly be heard in dentist offices and elevators when it comes out. I was saying was that a wider category might do the job. We know the band. We can safely say something more specific than "Music". They said it'll be thrashier than prior albums. We can be more specific than "Metal"... Just to let all of you people know, most serious metal bands don't classify themselves anything more specific than "metal" if their status could be debated. It's just a waste of the time of everybody involved to argue about this and really, since Children of Bodom themselves have claimed just to be "metal" and unclassifiable, what's the point? Arguing over genres is sad, and is the main reason why metal's coverage on Wikipedia is a joke. If you all spent as much time improving articles as you do arguing over genres, then a few quality articles would've been written by now.
