Dubious[edit]

I can find no citations at all that place DGCCT after the Duchess of Gloucester's name, or indeed any citations for the use of these letters after anyone's name ever outside of wikipedia and its mirrors. That she is a Dame Grand Cross of the Order of the Crown of Tonga is not in dispute. What's dubious is the use of the post-nominal letters. Celia Homeford (talk) 11:56, 30 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

LG or KG?[edit]

Following today's announcement that Her Royal Highness has been appointed a 'Royal Lady Companion' of the Garter, many articles, including this one, have been updated to show 'LG' as her first set of post-nominal initials. However, Princess Alexandra holds the same grade within the order, but is 'KG'. It could be that only The Queen, as a 'Royal Lady' - that is, without 'Companion' - is the only female member of the Royal Family with 'LG' in this context. Given that the official press release from the Royal Household, via the website, contains only the letters that each person held before the announcement, and all other sources would presumably have taken their cue from this, I am at a loss what to think. This is explained in note 19 at List of titles and honours of Anne, Princess Royal and note a at Princess Alexandra, The Honourable Lady Ogilvy. @Celia Homeford, no sources appear to say either 'LG' or 'KG' for The Duchess of Gloucester - that is my point. It is as though someone decided that 'LG' was right, despite 'KG' applying in the same circumstances elsewhere, and everyone has followed suit on here. So, on further investigation, it appears that, despite the original announcement, 'Lady Companion' is wrong for Princess Alexandra. It does not help that the honours section on her page has the cop-out entry of 'Order of the Garter' without a membership grade before it, leaving people to use the notes and sources to determine what's what. Furthermore, it had 'Royal Lady Companion' for her on 'List of honours of the British royal family by country', which I have since corrected. ZeroAlpha87 (talk) 11:01, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
