Copy-edit notice[edit]

The "for" text in the original copy-edit tag said:

improper capitalization of species common names, other than where a name occurs or the first word of the begins a sentence or bullet list item; 2) don't number lists for no reason; 3) add scientific names for each species; 4) fix incomplete common names like "cupreous blue" (cuprious blue what?!); 5) remove redundant links (only link scientific name if common name is a redlink and in such cases it's better to move the sci. name to the common name anyway, except for plants.

Some of this is simply wrong.

It's arguable as to whether capitalizing English names in lists is wrong, especially when some of the groups normally have their English names capitalized (see below).
As far as I can tell there is always a scientific name for each species.
Cupreous Blue is the correct common name of a butterfly; "Blue" is a noun in butterfly names, which are normally capitalized (as per examples at Wikipedia:WikiProject Lepidoptera and WP:Insects#Names and titles).
