Series of problems with this article[edit]

This biography has a number of problems that I am willing to edit, but I wanted to make sure there were no objections before I did so. So here's what I'm seeing:

  • informal language: "marketing guy" seems out of tune with the vast majority of wikipedia articles I've read
  • inaccurate numbers: the article says Meier and Stealey made over 400 games together, but I have no idea where that comes from. The mobygames database entry on Microprose lists 184 titles published and developed by that company. But that list includes titles that are shovelware (re-packaging old titles) and a large number of games developed and published after both Stealey and Meier left the company. Wikipedia's own list of Microprose games is also only something like 170 titles (can't be bothered to count precisely). So absent a cite, I'd think that number should be revised down to "over 100." There may be other, similar issues.
  • biased language: while Stealey may be a great guy, wikipedia typically prefers rather neutral assessments of people. This article, however, seems to consistently represent him in rather glowing terms--it reads more like a promo piece from a PR department than an encyclopedia article

I hope this doesn't sound too harsh--I'm not trying to trash someone else's work. Just looking to improve it. If nobody responds within the next month or so, I'll assume nobody cares and I'll change it. WikiBCman (talk) 16:58, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Military career[edit]

Considering his nickname of Major Bill and the many simulations from the company it would be interesting to have some more info about that. // Liftarn (talk) 14:46, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've added two lines to that effect, but the references are iffy. In particular I don't know when he retired. Given that Microprose' publicity materials often mentioned his military career it's odd that it wasn't in the article already. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 17:08, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

wake tech game conference[edit]

I added that he attended the conference that he attended in 2005, but people took it down without posting reasons why. It was a valid reference and information. Same thing was done to Tim sweeney's page. Assholes.
