Parallels[edit]

I just reread Somewhere in Time shortly after rereading What Dreams May Come. Matheson evidently intended the two as companion pieces, and I've included a quote to that effect in the article. I did also notice many astonishing parallels between the two novels, but I won't put them in the article, since it would be original research. Instead, I'll list some of them here:

In both books, the protagonist's brother is named Robert, and he's unsure whether to believe the otherworldy events described in the protagonist's manuscript
The protagonist in both books is 6'2" and blond. (Maybe that's how Matheson once looked?)
In one book, the protagonist's name is Richard (like the author). In the other, the protagonist has a son named Richard.
The protagonists in both books are screenwriters living in Hidden Hills, California.
Both books contain moments that the narrator comments might have lasted a few seconds or several minutes.
