Broken links in references[edit]

Several of the English Nature/Cheshire Biodiversity links in the reference list are no longer available; the new English Nature site [2] is currently unnegotiable as most of the sublinks are broken. Espresso Addict (talk) 15:51, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Access with dogs[edit]

"Since March 2008 the National Trust has refused access to the area to walkers with unleashed dogs."

I was there this afternoon, and I don't think this is the case. The NT has put up notices on access points (they were actually there in February) about removing dog faeces, but I don't believe the access of unleashed dogs is currently prohibited. Certainly it could be unenforceable, as there is no permanent NT presence there. I will take a closer look at the signs when I next visit. Espresso Addict (talk) 18:21, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It seemed unlikely to me for the reasons you've given (inability to enforce it,etc, and parallels with other similar NT sites I've visited myself, though I don't have a dog and so wasn't especially looking out for such signs), which I why I removed the rather partisan political statement when it was first entered, and then placed a fact tag on the more neutral one which was subsequently added.  DDStretch  (talk) 21:45, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
"Since March 2008 the National Trust has required all dogs entering this and their other sites to be on a lead."
If this is a general prohibition relating to all Trust land, then I'm not sure how necessary it is to mention it in this article. I can't get the NT site to load at the moment, will try again later. Espresso Addict (talk) 12:42, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Neither am I, but at least it was added (and I put it into a bit more standard ref format).  DDStretch  (talk) 12:50, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I visited this afternoon, and there are new notices at access points requesting that dogs are kept on a lead during the nesting season. I've removed the note in the article, as this is an extremely common access statement not only for NT land but also other landowners, and the emphasis seemed disproportionate here.
