Legend section[edit]

In copyediting this section to replace spaces removed by a vandal, I came across the following: "His hair was matted and was decorated by a crescent moon and Ganga." What is the "ganga"? Not the river, I suppose. Images of Shiva seem to show the moon and a cobra, and not the river; however, the images I've located do not show the five-faced Shiva. I am leaving the passage with the link ganga, knowing that it is probably very wrong. Would a subject editor kindly step in and make some sense here? Thank you.--Quisqualis (talk) 20:30, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't it too much imaginary??? How can there billions or trillions of trimurti and tridevi  ??? Shaktipujari (talk) 04:40, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It is also said that after churning ocean the earth had appeared only. And why will Godness Bhuvaneshvari will be their with her consort?? Then who is the primary and all mighty??? Regarding current edits[edit]

@Skyerise, That form isn't what its referring for-Goddess Bhuvanesvari, five folds namely Parvati-mother of Ganesa, Radha, Gaytri, Lakshmi and Saraswati are the manefestation of Highest Prakriti namely Parashakti [1], The description of Bhuvanesvari includes four hands "The Bhagavatî Bhuvanes'varî was sitting with a sweet smile on Her lips and holding in Her four hands noose, goad, and signs indicating as if She was ready to grant boons and asking Her devotees discard all fear. We never saw before such a form. Even the birds of that place repeat the mystic incantation Hrim and serve that Lady, Who is of the colour of the rising Sun, all merciful, and in the full bloom of youth. That lotus-faced smiling lady was adorned with all the beauties of Nature. Her high breasts defied the lotus bud. She was holding various jewelled ornaments, e.g., armplates, bracelets, diadems, etc." and seated on the lap of her husband Bhuvaneswara -Also, not to get confused Bhuvaneswari with the epithet used for various goddesses, as it can refer to different deities in different contexts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 106.216.117.33 (talk) 20:40, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The link you provide returns "not found". It is not unusual for deities to have variant forms. It is usual for members of one sect to repeatedly change the descriptions used by members of other sects. Skyerise (talk) 20:42, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also, you should not be using religious texts as sources. Material should be sourced to academic books, journal articles, and other third-party sources. Please provide proper reliable sources in your arguments. Other texts may have different descriptions, we need a third party overview to know what's what. Skyerise (talk) 20:47, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am very well aware about the context of different sects but I'm saying about certain common things such as iconography or attribute which isn't much argued over, Why not religious text to be used, is that unreliable? The link I gave was clearly the primary sources-the Direct author's translation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 106.216.117.33 (talk) 20:52, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Update -the link [2]

Please provide third-party sources as required. Religious texts should not be used as sources. Third-party sources regularly quote them and then elaborate on their origins, meanings, historical and spiritual context, etc. Please do not remove cited material, even if you think it is wrong, without getting agreement to remove it on the talk page. This is a collaborative project. And please sign your comments when you post. I suggest you create an account, as you reveal personal information by editing as an IP (where you live, in particular). Skyerise (talk) 20:56, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
But the cited materials here is "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhuvaneshvari#cite_note-3" non-different than the religious texts(which in my opinion should be used because it's the direct sources) -Anyway, this is wrongly attributed here though!106.216.117.33 (talk) 21:06, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please use academic books and journals. Skyerise (talk) 21:11, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
See here [3], it's another one and what we are talking of simple basic attributes not too detailed as much like cults and beyond that..106.216.117.33 (talk) 21:34, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's a much better source. Skyerise (talk) 22:24, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
