Some of the oldest schools like East Bhadeshor primary School (Est 1818), Naliuri Primary school (Est 1817), Nasir Uddin High School (Est 1919) are situated in Bhadeshor. Because of that this village attracted many students from all over Sylhet District during the British Colonial period. The women's College of Bhadeshor was The best educational institute of Bangladesh for the year 2000. Bhadeshor Salima Khanom Girl's School played key role for providing education to the deprived rural girls. Also Bhadeshor has two famous Islamic School Bhadeshor Hafizia Madrasha and Kurir Bazar Madrasha.

Mukam Bazar is a famous market place which is on the north bank of Kura river. Kura river is a man made river and probably the tiniest river in Bangladesh. Shah Putla (R) is buried near the Bazar and famous Gozar fish of Shah Putla (R) can be found there.

Many saints visited Bhadeshor and some of the 360 followers of Saint Shahjalal (R) loved this village and lived there for rest of their life. Piror Tilla at East Bhadeshor was one of the famous gathering area for saints for many years.

Salima Khanom Primary School was founded by Late Mr. Gous Ahmed in 1938 in Poschim Bhag, Bhadeshor. The first headmistress of was his wife late Mrs. Shamsunnehar Ahmed. He had faced many oppositions. He had difficulties recruiting students. He would give them stipends, and also gift like chicken, and handicraft materials such as bamboo. Slowly this school evolved into a junior high, and progressively became Girls' High School. Mr. Ahmed named the school after his mother Salima Khanom. Mr. Ahmed devoted his whole life to facilitate education for girls in a very conservative Muslim country where at that time social rules discouraged women pursuing education. Despite all the opposition, he continued to sacrifice his money, and land for the school. With time, Salima Khanom primary school and High School grew bigger as the number of pupils increased and gov't of Bangladesh took keen interest in these two prestigious institution due to high performance on national level. Current enrollment is: 1000. Mr. Gous Ahmed's dreams continue to inspire these girls who are obtaining quality education in a safe and conducive environment. The managing committees are playing a critical and important role to maintain the schools with the leadership of chairman Mr. Abdus Salik. Due to their continued leadership, these schools continue to grow everyday. Mr. Gous Ahmed's children: Shamsi Ahmed (Peyara)(children;3), Nazrul Ahmed(children;2), Jahanara Ahmed (Mishu)(children;2), Guljalal Ahmed(children;3), Hasan Ahmed(children;3), Balal Ahmed(children;2) and Foyzul Ahmed(children;2) who have taken the responsibilities to maintain the legacy of their father. In the recent years, they bought land for the schools, costing almost two crore taka(2,00,00,000 taka). Since they donated the land, Bangaldesh Gov't, with the assistance of Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid, Education Minister of Bangladesh, granted a five story school building. So far two stories completed. Mr. Ahmed's children are now financially sponsoring those who are in need of financial assistance so they can pursue their dreams. Every year, hundreds of girls benefit from their direct contribution through "The Gous Ahmed and Shamsunnehar Ahmed Foundation", established in 1980 following the death of Mrs. Shamsunnehar, 30 June 1980. In addition to the main objective of assisting girls obtaining higher education, this foundation helps with other social, financial, and health issues of the people of Bhadeshor. Their unconditional love for Bhadeshor and for the people of Bhadeshor is quite evident in their efforts to support the betterment of this area of historically highly educated people.

In 1988, Mr. Gous Ahmed bought a large piece of land as he dreamed of a college for women. Many could not fully appreciate his ambitions, as usual, and a few followed his leadership, particularly late Mr. Moyna Miah who sold the land learning that one day there will be another institution for girls. Mr. Gous Ahmed bought the land under his daughter Shamsi Ahmed, and her husband Mr. Abdul Malik Ahmed's names. With his request, they donated the land so a college for women could be established. Mr. Gous Ahmed went around and tried to collect contribution to fulfill this project. Finally a girls' college was started, and a batch of 15 girls enrolled. First class took place at Mr. Moina Miah's guest quarter in 1988. The construction work began on the land as people from the surrounding neighborhood donated land for the road with the leadership of then chairman late Mr. Faruk Ahmed. Mr. Gous Ahmed wanted to see the construction work be completed immediately as he believed that he was going to leave this earth very soon. The construction work was conducted night and day. Once the foundation was completed, he took a desk and a chair to sit there. He sat there for several hours, chatting and sharing his visions with others that oneday many girls from Bhadeshor will obtain higher education and that he believed this union parishad will have highest number of highly educated women in Bangladesh. Nobody could really understand him or fully appreciate his views and predictions. Unfortunately on the 2nd of February 1989, Mr. Gous Ahmed had a heart attack and died at his Ambarkhana house in Sylhet town. Many people realized the loss, and campaigned to name the college after him: Gous Ahmed Mohilla College. However, a few ungrateful rivals of boys high schools stood against this movement, and it was named Bhadeshor Mohilla College( Bhadeshor women's college).

Overall Bhadeshwar kept the Sylheti tradition alive.
