no island there ever[edit]

this is just an article about 40m deep water--79.233.10.129 (talk) 18:44, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No it's not. It's an article about a island that was once believed to exist outside Mexico, a so-called phantom island. You can see yourself that multiple old maps show Bermeja as an island. Currently it is unkown why it was thought to exist, or less likely if anything could have happened there. -GabaG (talk) 20:34, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Undersea landslide?[edit]

According to the sea floor elevation data in Google maps, the location is very close to the continental slope. Is it plausible that the island has disappeared in an unnoticed undersea landslide? Reiska (talk) 21:44, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

google maps conspiracy removed[edit]

I have removed the paragraph saying that there's a white strip over the location on Google Maps. This was easily falsified by looking at the "reference" provided---a link to Google maps. Someone simply didn't wait for the satellite picture to load. [1]
