Recorded date[edit]

Hi, I think that we should leave the "Recorded" section in the infobox blank because we dont know when he started recording for this album. it was initially going to be released in 2007 so it could have been part-recorded in late 2006. Also we dont even know if the recorded tracks are going to be kept. I personally think that he will scrap it and start a new album for the title Before I Self Destruct. So what do ya think? --¤ The-G-Unit-฿oss ¤ 14:32, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just added it based on what we know at the moment. Also, this album was not going to be released in 2007, Curtis is to be released in 2007, he just decided to rename the 2007 album, it was originally "Before I Self Destruct", then he renamed it to "Curtis". He decided to use this title for his 2008 album. Anything could happen, that is why the "Future Album" template is here, and if something does happen, then we can always change it. --- Realest4Life 14:38, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In the track "The End Of My Career" (An excerpt of a radio interview) 50 Cent says the following (exactly):
Wowww that took some time. So anyway yeah he says that "Before I Self Destruct" was gonna be his thrid album but then he started "Curtis" and made that his third album. --¤ The-G-Unit-฿oss ¤ 14:53, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Damn, so that Curtis page was wrong, I'll have to change some stuff now, including the recorded date for Curtis, and info about the changing of the album's name, can you please give me the link to see his interview? --- Realest4Life 15:01, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Um, I've got it on my comp its from a mixtape. Ill try and upload it somewhere and send a link. --¤ The-G-Unit-฿oss ¤ 15:09, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article[edit]

I've added this information into the article. I know the reference given is not ideal but it is better than nothing for now. If somebody can upload the file that I uploaded (See Links above) to YouTube, that would be a better source to give. --¤ The-G-Unit-฿oss ¤ 15:41, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article looks much better now, before it was pretty much 2-3 sentences. --- Realest4Life 16:56, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New Songs[edit]

Is there any recorded song announced to be in this album yet. --Football97 16:48, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not any that I have heard of, I personally think that 50 Cent will scrap this album and start again. --¤ The-G-Unit-฿oss ¤ 16:51, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously not, it is supposed to be released a year from now. --- Realest4Life 17:16, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What, He obviously wont start again or there obviously isnt a track confirmed? --¤ The-G-Unit-฿oss ¤ 17:17, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

March Release[edit]

Totally incorrect. Leave it as TBA for now. Cmon people think here for a second —Preceding unsigned comment added by Trimy67 (talkcontribs) 01:41, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He stated March 08, that's what we leave it for now. --JpGrB 01:51, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This needs to be put as TBA. It's March 11th and no talk of an album drop has occurred. The fact that no promotion for the album has occurred either gives all clues as to this release being TBA. The only thing dropping is the mixtape, Elephant In The Sand. (216.88.246.140 (talk) 05:23, 11 March 2008 (UTC))[reply]
I agree. I also checked with music shops such as HMV, and there is no pre-orders for 'Before I Self Destruct'. I highly doubt that the fouth album will be released this month. I have changed the release date back to TBA, as we are not exactly sure when the album is arriving, as most may agree. We cannot guarentuee March as the album's release date, as people may very well believe, and later turns out the March '08 release may be false. Has anyone else got any views on this ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Iconmike2007 (talkcontribs) 23:35, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well i think that he has done very little promotion for it for a reason. He wants this record to be more separate from the mainstream and back to his dark roots so it would complete the feel of the album if it wasnt promoted that much. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Parralax (talkcontribs) 22:40, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That has to be one of the worse reasonings I've heard. 50 Cent is one of Interscopes best selling artists. Who would honestly think they would not promote him? Even if 50 didn't want that they would overrule him and promote it. Plus a street single as well as the lead single would have dropped two months ago. Please guys use common sense here, its not dropping in March.(216.88.246.140)
Sorry for stating a possible reason ): Anyways now that the last music release day of March has past its now impossible for a March release date.Parralax (talk) 01:42, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yea i strongly agree in changing it to TBA. The album has been pushed back so many times, No date is accurate anymore. First it was December 9th, then December 16, then February 3rd, Now March. Just change it to TBA cause we will never know until 2 week before album release. --71.143.169.17 (talk) 19:35, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Change Relased to Release or Release Date[edit]

Released 4th quarter of winter 2008 does not make sense because the album has not been released yet (duhh) i tried changing it to release date, but in doing that, it deleted the whole that whole part I was trying to fix. I also tried to make it release, but the same thing happened. The album should be released on 12-9-08 cuz it sayz dat on "50 for President". Xosder43 (talk) 21:46, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Xosder43[reply]

50 Cent Steals A Dr. Dre Beat From Eminem[edit]

"I did a song produced by Dr. Dre," 50 said. "I got the production from Detroit, because Dre was working with Em right before I got out there. I just missed him. I went through Em's computer and found what I needed. Yes, I did. I got me the record I needed. I was like, 'Wait till they hear this.' I wrote it; Em heard it. He was like, 'You gotta keep that for yourself. This is too crazy.' HHDX Tracklist[edit]

Okay, here's my problem with the HHDX tracklist:

  1. They cite another source.
  2. I couldn't actually find that URL in Google (if someone can provide it please put it here)
  3. The "rapbasement" article which looks pretty much the same, says it's not necessarily the final tracklist and that it's the rumored.

That's just some of the major problems I have with this source and tracklist. I'm not saying it's not legit, I'm just saying I don't necessarily trust it right now without any other back-up. Production and guests[edit]

I think this section needs to be shortened. It is just a collection of quotations. I don't think all of them are necessary, we could just take out the most significant informations from the quote (in most cases that the artist is involved in the project) and make one short text. --DasallmächtigeJ (talk) 21:42, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Track Listing Considered For Deletion[edit]

The track list should go. Reasons for this is that it is only a rumored track listing for the album and not actually confirmed by Interscope Records or even 50 Cent himself. Also, the album's third official single titled "Ok, You're Right" will be on the album and is not in the track listing stated.

We could at least get rid of the current track list and at least wait for a true confirmed/updated one to come along, surely? It's logical.

Any more views on this people? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.9.108.199 (talk) 14:41, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

On Wikipedia, we go by reliable sources and verifiability. The tracklist is sourced. And it is stated, in prose form, that certain songs were later confirmed, but not included on the tracklist. To remove this would be vandalism. It follows all rules and guidelines of wikipedia, therefor, no, it should not be removed. --HELLØ ŦHERE 14:48, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I somewhat agree with you. The track list is of course sourced, but NOT confirmed officially. That means Wikipedia MAY be giving out totally false and unconfirmed information about the album. Because it is more than likely that the apparent track list will be changed closer to release date to include newley released songs. So the track list shown may be, innacurate. Iconmike2007 (talk) 15:16, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you read WP:V it clearly states, "verifiability not truth" in the opening sentence. --HELLØ ŦHERE 15:26, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Although any source/website could easily "invent" track list and pass it off as a confirmed one. Apart from the current website that has confirmed this tracklist, shouldn't other sources be explored for the benefit of the reader? Iconmike2007 (talk) 16:16, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that is very true. But it is verifiable by a reliable source and that's all we need. --HELLØ ŦHERE 20:03, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

50 cent said alot of stuff for this album which we wont get. the album has got reworked completely with dr dre. Theres no chance he will put ok your right on his LP. The song has been played and done.

It doesn't matter how old the source is, if it's cited, it's confirmed. If you want to remove the track lising, you must provide a source that states either a different track listing or 50 Cent saying there is no listing. SE KinG. User page. Talk. 21:10, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Had to go back to May 09 to try and find one but that tracklist came out at the latest in Jan 09. 50 Cent saying in an interview that he's reworked 70% of the album material. Everyone in the hip-hop world knows that this tracklist is either fake or outdated, i understand that you need sources to cite to change it and so on, but he's already released a new lead single for the album and continues to put out new music supposedly from the album that doesn't feature anywhere on this tracklist.

Producers[edit]

The Producer that isn't credited on this list is polow da don who produced the song Baby By Me ft Ne-Yo —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.183.147.200 (talkcontribs)

That song has not been confirmed for the album. --HELLØ ŦHERE 23:26, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The song is confirmed to be on the album as the official fourth single as confirmed via 50 Cent's Twitter page on 9th September 2009. 92.8.76.107 (talk) 14:28, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Crime Wave[edit]

Crime Wave hasn't been conformed to have been recorded for or around the time of BISD, therefore, I think that it should be taken out of the recorded tracks section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.67.137.94 (talk) 02:18, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's been confirmed for Before I Self Destruct. SE KinG. User page. Talk. 04:30, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

iTunes tracklist.[edit]

Okay, this is just me, but based on the problem with his last album, and their details with iTunes, should we really trust it as a reliable source this time? I mean, it's a retailer, we don't Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, etc. count, why should we let iTunes? --HELLØ ŦHERE 14:59, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Let's just leave it there for now. For some reason I think iTunes is more reliable than Amazon and Bestbuy and whatnot. I'm not sure though. If it changes, we'll change it. If you want to, you could add something like "This track list is not final and could most likely change". TehRYNOL (talk) 18:06, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I guess it is quite incomplete in general, I think we should wait until better one from a more reliable source comes along...--DasallmächtigeJ (talk) 18:15, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Singles[edit]

"Get Up" and "I Get It In" should NOT be listed as singles from the album as they are NOT ON THE ALBUM! they should be listed as promo singles only and not in the album infobox!! (MariAna Mimi 20:34, 3 November 2009 (UTC))

Whether on the album or not, they are singles. --HELLØ ŦHERE 20:43, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, of course that they are singles! i did not say that they are not singles! but they are not on the album! it's simple logic! if a song is not on an album then how can it be a single from the album?? (MariAna Mimi 19:46, 4 November 2009 (UTC))

Have a read of the Before I Self Destruct's Singles thread below people and reply.92.9.10.114 (talk) 19:32, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The other singles were just promo singles . The actual ones are Baby by me and the second single single is Do you think about me . 50 told this to MTV . Do you have a source for this? Or is it just your own interpretation. If there are other samples, they will most likely be covered in the booklet when the album is released. --HELLØ ŦHERE 21:31, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Wait until the album releases as everything before the release will be considered original source unless properly sourced. ♫ Douglasr007 (talk) 04:41, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well when "Baby by Me" was released, it was reported several times that it sampled 50's "I Get Money". But I'm not sure if you sample your own song it has to be credited... SE KinG. User page. Talk. 05:47, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, King, I'm pretty sure the only time you have to give "credit" is when someone else owns the copyright. I know one specific case was back in the 90s on a Will Smith solo CD, he sampled his own song "Summertime", but another label owned that song. But in this case with 50, I'm pretty sure it's all the same stuff regarding publishing, etc. --HELLØ ŦHERE 15:28, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You do realize Summertime samples Kool & the Gang's "Summer Madness" ? ♫ Douglasr007 (talk) 04:03, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
But in the specific "Big Willie Style" booklet, it says that the sample comes from the "DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince" song, 'Summertime'. --HELLØ ŦHERE 16:05, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Before I Self Destruct's singles[edit]

There is constant editing and confusion among users over three songs: Get Up, I Get It In, Ok, You're Right and Baby by Me.

Just to clarify, which one is correct?

Get Up the first single.

I Get It In the second single.

Ok, You're Right the third single.

Baby by Me the fourth single.

OR

Get Up a promo single.

I Get It In a promo single.

Ok, You're Right a promo/street single.

Baby by Me the first single.

Which batch do you think is correct? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.9.10.114 (talk) 19:29, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Whether a "promo" single or not, it is still a single. It's very much the same way Wanksta was a single for GRoDT, though not included on the album. --HELLØ ŦHERE 19:40, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Should we mention that, for example, " Get Up is the first single, but was not included on the final cut of the album" to avoid confusion?

Also, Wanksta was included on GRoDR.92.9.10.114 (talk) 19:45, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Wanksta" was a bonus track, not an actual one, if you look on the page. And I personally don't think it's important to list what was or wasn't included on the final tracklist, people can see that for themselves. --HELLØ ŦHERE 19:58, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. The pages have been cleared up.92.9.10.114 (talk) 20:13, 7 November 2009 (UTC).[reply]

The other singles were just promo singles . The actual ones are Baby by me and the second single single is Do you think about me . 50 told this to MTV . He called Do you think about me as the second single which clears all our doubts .Do you think about Me

Whether "promo" or not, it's still a single, our very definition of term even states:

Just because they don't appear doesn't mean they aren't singles. --HELLØ ŦHERE 16:12, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but those singles have nothing to do with this albuma s per the same logic since they are not a part of the album. They were a part of the old album which has since been reworked as per 50's interviews. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.158.188.2 (talk) 23:35, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with User 71.158.188.2 on this one. 50 Cent did confirm on MTV that 'Baby by Me' is the first single and 'Do You Think About Me' is the second. He also said he is going 'straight to "Get It Hot" as the third single'.Iconmike2007 (talk) 18:01, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If we're going to go by everything the artist says then numerous things on Wikipedia would have to change. We go by third party sources, which list them as the singles. They were released in preparation for the album, that's what makes a single a single. In the early days of records, the rule used to be that if you released a song as a single it wasn't allowed to be on your upcoming album, does that mean certain songs weren't singles for preparations for albums? No. They are singles, but not on the album. It can, and obviously does, happen. --HELLØ ŦHERE 18:22, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How about I provide you credible third party sources like Universal and Interscope websites, thisis50.com and other hip hop sites plus MTV.com that say those were not singles to this album? I shouldn't even need to do that since bing and google will prove me right. Also, you don't believe the artist? oh ok, what are you on?

Universal and Interscope are not third party. "ThisIs50" isn't even reliable at all. And no, I don't trust the artist for the very reason of third party sources. --HELLØ ŦHERE 00:57, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

MTV? other hip-hop sites? thisis50 and 50 are unreliable sources for 50's music...wow...hater alert right here! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.251.66.35 (talk) 01:06, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect review links[edit]

The very first review is incorrectly linked to Eminem's Relapse with a A- rating not a B-. Please fix that. Also the XXL ratnig for the album has been updated to 4 out of 5 stars. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.158.188.2 (talk) 23:33, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I swithed the EW review to the correct one, which still is a B-. The XXL rating is still the same, note that the "user rating" is 4 starts yet the critic's rating is 3 1/2. We don't mention the user rating because it can change, and the XXL readers don't have the critical authority that the review's author does. I hope this helps clarify things. ThemFromSpace 23:43, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know where else to put this, sorry, but a review from onethirtybpm is up, it should be added to the reviews blurb under the album cover. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Okalright2009 (talkcontribs) 07:08, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
