Metalcore?[edit]

Even though I do not believe Slipknot fall under the metalcore genre AT ALL, this song sounds more like metalcore than anything else. James25402 14:56, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You'd be suprised, i was chekin out the inrenet and some website considered them as a Metalcore/Nu Metal band. As far as im conserned Before I Forget is the only metalcore songs Slipknot have ever done. Goom 20:18, 21st June 2007 (UTC)

yeh n you could also have me inside, purity and wait n bleed as metalcore songs

i think metalcore is more eralivent then nu metal Rakarno.

Even though someone wrote "do not change the genre to metalcore", why the hell not? There are no citations ANYWHERE that describe the genre of this song on its own, any genre we put in the box for it is going to be based on POV. Just because Slipknot play alt. metal/nu-metal does not mean it is any more reliable to label THIS song as those genres. The consensus on this Talk page has said metalcore, so unless some people come here to complain about and disagree, it will stay metalcore. James25402 (talk) 22:22, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Who keeps changing metalcore to "metal", alternative metal, or even... nu metal? Whoever it is, LEAVE IT ON METALCORE. 61x62x61 (talk) 22:29, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Would New Wave of American Heavy Metal be a good enough replacement, as it is strongly influenced by metalcore? π₰Å₯ ĬLʡ$Φǚɭђµπt₴ŗ ₯Å₰π 22:25, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Forget about that --↑ɻθʉɭђɥл₮₴Ṝ 19:18, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PEOPLE STOP CHANGING IT FROM METALCORE! 99.224.169.91 (talk) 14:03, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yep. People are STILL changing it to "metal", alternative metal, or even... nu metal. Whoever it is, JUST STOP. --↑ɻθʉɭђɥл₮₴Ṝ 19:19, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adding other genres is fine, but just DON'T REMOVE METALCORE!!! --61x62x61 ([[User

i fully support the spirit of what you guys are doing.its exactly the kind of thinking wikipedia needs. but this song isnt metalcore. its doesnt have many pronounced hardcore elements. the song is much closer to nu metal. then again, these genres are easily confused because of their rhythmic metal nature.

I'm sorta leaned more towards alt-metal and nu metal (mostly the latter, really), though it does lean a bit towards metalcore. Not a lot, in my opinion, but it still has a bit of metalcore influence. Really, I'm inclined towards nu metal, but that's just my two cents on the subject. 121.219.40.20 (talk) 12:03, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Slipknot before i forget.jpg[edit]

Image:Slipknot before i forget.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thematically, the song deals with a nihilistic conception of man[edit]

Seriously, this smacks of pretense. I think that the entire second paragraph should either have major changes or be scrapped entirely. The references to Darwinism and Machiavelliism are stretches at best, and really don't belong here. 69.19.14.37 (talk) 06:09, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not to mention that "materialism circumstances" isn't an English phrase. I'm just going to remove the whole paragraph, if someone wants put it back in they should find some sources that back up that interpretation. Kravitch (talk) 19:36, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Saying that the whole paragraph there now sounds like a four year old wrote it! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.152.116.67 (talk) 07:46, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Carve[edit]

That was part of the Crowz album, was it not? The article, by including that reference, seems a bit like a cover-up for Crowz...would it be better to reword? Thanks, The Mad Muffin!Muffin Chat? 07:48, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Metalcore...[edit]

Another thing, the tasks list says add metalcore to the infobox, if we are going to, do we have any sources? Thanks, The Mad Muffin!Muffin Chat? 16:37, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why do we need to? In fact, who added that as a task? Leave it as it is. The article's probably been sabotaged enough already without someone calling it 'metalcore'. --Lordnecronus (talk) 18:51, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, fair enough, it is a slight argument magnet, I'll agree. Thanks, The Mad Muffin!Muffin Chat? 00:33, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

this song can't be nu metal[edit]

Really it has no hip hop or grunge in it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheMetallican (talkcontribs) 01:13, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it does. It's got record scratches and a hip-hop rhythm. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.219.236.163 (talk) 06:58, 22 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nu metal?[edit]

Rateyourmusic.com is NOT a reliable source. Besides, if you look up Mudvayne's genre on there, it will say "Nu metal". But yet, there is a consensus against that label for Mudvayne, besides it's on the edit page for Mudvayne on wikipedia. I'm taking it off for now, when a source comes, it can be there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.255.214.78 (talk) 22:24, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please direct me to a discussion where RYM is listed as not a reliable source. Note: just because the editors of Mudvayne have a consensus against it, that doesn't affect our decisions here on the Slipknot pages. – Richard BB 22:56, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You can't put a consensus to something on Wikipedia if you don't have proof or cited information. So if Mudvayne had that come up to them, then there is proof they aren't nu metal. Besides if you research the characteristics of nu metal, you'll notice it doesn't really fit the song, "Before I Forget" by Slipknot. Not only is there no consensus of this song being nu metal, rateyourmusic is a fan site for any musician or band out there. Not only that, that place if you notice, it's pages get created by people and they put whatever genre they want. If you want a real nu metal song, look up "Falling Away From Me" by Korn or something. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.255.214.78 (talk) 23:45, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
