Metalcore?[edit]

Even though I do not believe Slipknot fall under the metalcore genre AT ALL, this song sounds more like metalcore than anything else. James25402 14:56, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You'd be suprised, i was chekin out the inrenet and some website considered them as a Metalcore/Nu Metal band. As far as im conserned Before I Forget is the only metalcore songs Slipknot have ever done. Goom 20:18, 21st June 2007 (UTC)

Even though someone wrote "do not change the genre to metalcore", why the hell not? There are no citations ANYWHERE that describe the genre of this song on its own, any genre we put in the box for it is going to be based on POV. Just because Slipknot play alt. metal/nu-metal does not mean it is any more reliable to label THIS song as those genres. i fully support the spirit of what you guys are doing.its exactly the kind of thinking wikipedia needs. but this song isnt metalcore. its doesnt have many pronounced hardcore elements. the song is much closer to nu metal. then again, these genres are easily confused because of their rhythmic metal nature.

I'm sorta leaned more towards alt-metal and nu metal (mostly the latter, really), though it does lean a bit towards metalcore. Not a lot, in my opinion, but it still has a bit of metalcore influence. Nu metal?[edit]

Rateyourmusic.com is NOT a reliable source. Besides, if you look up Mudvayne's genre on there, it will say "Nu metal". But yet, there is a consensus against that label for Mudvayne, besides it's on the edit page for Mudvayne on wikipedia. You can't put a consensus to something on Wikipedia if you don't have proof or cited information. So if Mudvayne had that come up to them, then there is proof they aren't nu metal. Besides if you research the characteristics of nu metal, you'll notice it doesn't really fit the song, "Before I Forget" by Slipknot. Not only is there no consensus of this song being nu metal, rateyourmusic is a fan site for any musician or band out there. Not only that, that place if you notice, it's pages get created by people and they put whatever genre they want.
