Sources[edit]

I am wondering where this information came from under the heading BAI. I found very similar information from a website titled Family Health Guide and was listed as anxiety symptoms. If it can't be cited then I will have to find similar information from a known source and change it entirely. Kater144 (talk) 06:09, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I believe I found the source...nevermind. The entire BAI section appears to be from one source, so I marked the [1] at the bottom of the section, rather than following each bit of information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kater144 (talkcontribs) 22:16, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Filling out some sections[edit]

I would like to see a bit more on how the limitations affect its use in specific settings (clinical or otherwise), and its reliability as an overall measure of anxiety. You could also provide deeper info on the other measures of anxiety and their strengths and weaknesses compared to Beck's. What aspects of anxiety does Beck's miss out on by only focusing on the two aspects? why might it be important to have an anxiety scale that does focus on more? Does this limit affect the ability of the test to be used in multiple situations? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 147.126.10.75 (talk) 19:21, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comment and excellent suggestions for adding more information to the sections...I tried my best to include the information you suggested...please let me know if I missed anything or what else could be added/changed to make this article more complete...I started out with essentially nothing besides the BAI heading so it was definitely a lot of work and a lot of citing!

Two factor Approach to Anxiety[edit]

I am not quite sure how to cite in this section. All of the information from the three paragraphs is from the secondary source [6], Creamer et al., and each paragraph contained various primary sources as well. I thought that placing the [6] at the very bottom of the section would indicate this. This is the same situation from the BAI heading...I eventually discovered the source, which I placed at the very bottom of the section, since this is where the information came from. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kater144 (talkcontribs) 22:06, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think that even though the information in the last paragraph, about the BAI assessing Panic Disorder better than obsessive-compulsive disorder or social phobia, fits best into this section even though it may seem like a limitation. It seems better organized to put it here since its related to the somatic scale and cognitive scales, though maybe I should include this info in the limitations section as well? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kater144 (talkcontribs) 22:13, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Clinical Use[edit]

I am taking the sentence about the BAI best at assessing panic disorders out of this section since I already mentioned it in the Two factor approach to anxiety section — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kater144 (talkcontribs) 22:15, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In paragraph three, I took out the redundant information that I put in paragraph two, defining state and trait anxiety and removed the links in paragraph three since I put them in two. Also, I abbreviated STAI since I defined it above. I am not sure what the source is for defining the Fear Survey Schedule but for now I am letting it be...I will hunt it down later.

To create paragraph four: I took out the citations regarding use with the BAI for adolescents and elderly patients because there wasn't any specific information included. In its place, I used the same source for adolescents but told specific information about the BAI being adequate for 14-18 year olds. I also added information about the Beck Youth Inventories. I will add specific information for the elderly patients under the limitations because my source discusses a negative limitation of the BAI measuring elderly with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kater144 (talkcontribs) 23:44, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to, but I included all of the primary sources that were cited in the secondary source [18] Kohn et al. There were a lot within the first paragraph of this section and it took me a really long time to do. The first two paragraphs are from the secondary source Kohn et al., so I just put [18] at the very end of the second paragraph, including both of them. Again, I'm not sure if this is the right way to cite something like this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kater144 (talkcontribs) 02:38, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Question breakdown, scoring and interpretation[edit]

Reformatted the question/scoring information under this header and updated it a bit. From my sources it says that the BAI is used with people 7 and older. However, this page said it is used with people ages 17-80. I made changes to this discrepancy because there was no source cited. I also changed the scoring distribution to the one under "score interpretation". The prior scoring distribution was not cited and was discrepant from what the BAI staes for scoring at the bottom of the questionnaire. Elliegwu (talk) 02:50, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The scores that were originally listed are correct per the manual and are what's used in clinical practice. I've edited to reflect the correct scoring ranges. Zefryl (talk) 16:59, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
