Taxonomy[edit]

The taxonomy seems messed up. I tried to correct some (no point in treating it as subspecies when it is a forma localis), but the following makes no sense:

"Sometimes, they are placed in the cutthroat trout instead (as Oncorhynchus clarki irideus)."

If Beardslee's were placed into the Cutthroat, irideus would not apply. It would be O. clarki beardsleei or f. beardsleei of some subspecies of clarki. Or should this mean that the entire Coastal Rainbow (and not just Beardslee's) is occasionally split from the Steelhead and placed in the Cutthroat? That would deserve in-depth discussion at the Rainbow Trout main article. Dysmorodrepanis (talk) 01:40, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If I remember correctly, I think what happened was that the taxonomy was changed at some point when somebody realized it should go in the one family and not the other. But it's been awhile since I did the research for this article. Murderbike (talk) 01:54, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spring of what year?[edit]

Washington Trout conducted independent spawning surveys on the Lyre this past spring and found alarming evidence of very low numbers of spawning fish, indicating that the population has experienced a severe decline.

this past spring should be changed to refer to the Spring of X year. I have not been able to find the year in question. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.26.198.208 (talk) 09:04, 7 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
