Formerly a mountain?[edit]

Was Bayan Obo formerly a mountain before being blown up to extract its minerals? If so, why isn't the word "mountain" mentioned in the text of the current version of this article? 173.88.246.138 (talk) 03:35, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Health[edit]

Is it true that, due to the intensive mining (and the concomitant contamination of the local drinking water and food chain with radioactive tailing waste, fluorides, arsenic, and other toxic mining byproducts) in the Bayan Obo area, cancer rates have skyrocketed and deaths of humans and animals increased between 1993 and 2005?
