I don't suppose anyone can find a map?Cameron Nedland 23:35, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

Funny

Funny how the link Messina in the campaign box "First Punic war" leads not to the Battle of Messina but to Messina itself. Can someone tell me what the battle was known as, or else change this?Tourskin 02:02, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Rostrum

I don't know if it deserves a mention or not, but apparently they found a ram near the site of the battle. [1] --SkiDragon (talk) 05:50, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

What was Catulus' move?

The article claims that "Catulus' first move was to besiege ... Lilybaeum". Martin & Garland, however, indicate that he besieged Drepana (see Siege of Drepana) in 241. Did he conduct 2 sieges? Ekem (talk) 11:50, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

OK, it appears that 2 sieges had been ongoing by the Romans, one of Lilybaeum, the other of Drepana, for several years, well before Catulus entered the scene.Ekem (talk) 01:54, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Sources

Added a couple of sources, a recent academic paper on finds from the battle, and a link to Polybius, who is the only ancient source for what happened. Of course if he counts as a "single source" and so gets a black mark then that's a black mark for sources for most of the First Punic War! Andrewshobley (talk) 14:47, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
