Turkish name[edit]

Turkish name isn't Koyunhisar Muharebesi (Savaşı)

The Turkish name was added by Noyder (talk · contribs), who is Turkish, so you could ask him. Actually, source B says exactly that ("here that,... gained their first victory"). I can't read source C, could you translate it? On source A, I have read that there are various conflicting theories on where the battle was fought and its identification with a number of Ottoman operations at the time (in Inalcik's linked article for instance), but can't remember if he says anything on the Turkish name. There may be more than one battle. A battle described in this article (within sight of the Nicomedia), a battle described in Turkish Wikipedia (at Dimboz, near Yenişehir, Bursa) and even a third one at the southern shore of the bay near Karamürsel and Hersek. Both names seem to be shared (Bapheus the first and the last, Koyunhisar the second and the last) Hence the confusion. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 10:44, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Koyunhisar Savaşı diye tanımlanan savaş bugün Bursa ili Yenişehir ilçesine bağlı Koyunhisar ya da diğer adı ile Hamidiye köyünün bulunduğu ovada gerçekleşmiştir. Koyunhisar or Yanakkale[edit]

Hammer, for his part, claimed that Bapheus was Koyunhisar. There is other battles of Koyunhisar. Koyunhisar Muharebesi in Turkish Wikipedia is not same as the Battle of Bapheus and categolized to History of Bursa. In Koyunhisar (40°15′N 29°29′E / 40.250°N 29.483°E / 40.250; 29.483) of Bursa Province, villagers celebrated anniversary of the Battle of Koyunhisar. On the other hand, the Battle of Bafeus took place near the center of Altınova District (40°41′N 29°30′E / 40.683°N 29.500°E / 40.683; 29.500) in Yalova Province (Yanakkale)[1]. Accoring to sources, the Battle of Bapheus was fought between Nicomedia (40°46′N 29°56′E / 40.767°N 29.933°E / 40.767; 29.933) and Nicaea (40°25′N 29°43′E / 40.417°N 29.717°E / 40.417; 29.717).

George Mouzalon as the Byzantine commander[edit]

If we look at the Wikipedia article on George Mouzalon, it is stated that George Mouzalon was assassinated on 25 August 1258. Did he come up from his grave to command the Byzantine army on 27 July 1302 for this battle? I am deleting the references to this person as the Byzantine army commander.Noyder (talk) 23:19, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know where the George part came from. The commander's name is given as Mouzalon (or Muzalo in Latin) in the 1835 edition of Pachymeres' De Michaele et Andronico Palaeologis (Vol. II, 4, p. 327ff.). Bapheus is a scenario of the Battles of the Forgotten in Age of Empires II HD: The Forgotten, and depicts the rise of the Ottoman Empire.
